    A thriller full of thrills, twists and turns, and an original ending. Richard Conte, no matter what role he played, was always top-notch. Great
    entertainment. Thank you!

    Loved it... fun old film. And what a cute Wanda Hendrix. A real tragic actress deserving of much more and who died so young at only 52 in 1980. She put up with the very worst that could be dealt to her during her short marriage to Audie Murphy. The PTSD he suffered from just wasn't diagnosed back then, and his bravery on the battlefield took a horrible toll on him. Much of that bottled up rage was taken out on Wanda, who divorced him purely out of self-protection. Unfortunately, Hollywood and the audiences back then treated her lie a deserter of a national hero, and her career never really took off as it should have.
    Now I need to renew my knowledge of the Salton Sea history.
    Thanks for posting a wonderful copy of this gem of a picture, Breaker! Much appreciated.

Bad weather finally passed, cloudless sky w/bright sun and we were out removing snow and ice from the blades of the helicopter (we had no hangar) when someone remarked while taking off a jacket, "It's hot out here today with no wind." Richard was an excellent performer and remained active well into the 70s, being seen in "The Godfather" series of films. My favorite role of Richard`s was in "The Twilight Zone" episode, "Perchance to dream", where he was superb! Being totally believable regardless of it being a TV or film role, obviously, a true professional at work always........

    This is the greatest film noir it was so good I watched it twice in one day. Richard Conte is the king of film noir. Clever story & plot with many unexpected surprises.
    A bit far fetched & improbable but entertaining.
    I like how he turned the tables on the police & escaped in a patrol car & then stopped to help the 2 women fix their car.
    And when the car broke down they get into a station wagon & he crashes thru roadblocks & 2 motorcycles & the car is a total wreck & still running in the desert. Laughed my head off. Great movie.

    Richard Conte is always a treat. This early Conte role is pretty good for a low budget "thriller"... But, what is a Las Vegas cop doing anywhere near the California border, let alone crossing the state line in pursuit of a suspect where he has Zero jurisdiction??? Yeah, low budget plots.... with that LV sheriff, sans the mustache , being a near stand-in double for Lee Van Cleef (too)!! And older Joan Bennet is also a treat here.... She was always a favorite actress in a full range of classic 40s films!! :-)

    I thought this was a great, suspense filled thriller and it benefits from having been shot on location. Interesting to see Fremont Street as it was in c '54. Richard Conte and Wanda Hendrix give strong performances. Joan Bennett is not quite on Woman in the Window form but still watchable.

    i would have liked the movie better if the Dog was Saved by the man instead of letting a car hit him and die... the end was kinda corny but still a happy ending...

    • @freemarketjoe9869
      @freemarketjoe9869 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, i did not see the point in the dog dying, other than the inconvenience of dragging the dog along for the rest of the story line. Here is our main man, letting the dog out to do it's duty for ten minutes by the diner. Here he is again by the gas station. Now here he is walking the dog in the desert! Here he is once again carting the dog out in his arms to see the half submerged house. Lets face it. The dog had to go! Plus he knew too much. It was his leash, after all, that was used to kill the blonde bimbo. Dead dogs tell no tails! I mean tales!
