- In this video titled EU4 Releasables - I FINALLY Played The HARDEST Nation In Italy I do a playthrough as Corsica after releasing it from Genoa and I try to become a great power in Europa Universalis 4 1.37 Winds of Change. For Surguja, just get Orissa to support your independence and declare as soon as truce is up.
If Jharkhand gets any serious allies, it's probably a restart. But Orissa vassal swarm + your army & mercs should be ok against Bengal (some competence from AI required, which might be annoying).

I think Surguja might genuinely be one of the hardest starts in EU4: OPM Starting without feudalism, only very few *possible* targets to support your independence, none of them share your religion, and the jungle capital makes development expensive. In my attempts the only nation I've managed to get to support me has been Orissa (in the rare games where they've not been squished), and even then it tends to be a game of waiting for Bengal to be tied up in a costly war (which seldom happens), and hoping that nobody else allies your overlord.
My best attempts so far have only seen me *survive* until the 16th century, still as a vassal.
Extremely difficult, I know I meme with the “hardest country” titles but Surguja is genuinely one of the real hardest starts. I really don’t know what I’m gonna do with them
@@TheRedHawk So I persevered and with a lot of RNG finally broke free in 1497 with alliances to Bengal and Juanpur. I didn't bother continuing because it should be straightforward at that point.
I secured that support because my overlord allied Bahmanis.
The only strat I can see working is to pray to RNGesus.
It's tough indeed and unless you're very lucky will require a few restarts, but I don't think it's THAT hard. It all hinges on the one big independence war of you+Orissa vs Jharkand+Bengal, but if you win that you can take not just the Jharkand provinces but also a good amount of land from Bengal, catapulting you to a decent starting size. Lacking feudalism isn't really a problem as you'll get it instantly after winning the independence war. Patna was still unconquered and had no big allies at that point in 90% of my test runs, so you can easily conquer them next and get a very cheap-to-develop province to move your capital to and develop the renaissance. From there on it's just ordinary gameplay as a mid-size Indian nation with a few different routes of expansion, and it's not too difficult to get some larger allies.
Definitely not an *easy* start, but I don't think it's on the same level as, say, Otomi or Perm where you have to spend 50 years carefully managing coalitions and barely staving off bankruptcy, or the vassal-of-a-vassal releasables where you have to win a double-independence war on your own.
I just tried it now, got lucky and got it first try. Allied Orissa and declared for independence as soon as truce is up. It's basically me + Orissa vs Bengal, which is a hard war but not impossible thanks to the Orissa vassal swarm. Orissa even blocked me from fully annexing Jharkhand which was super annoying. But once you get independence there's plenty of small fish to eat and it's somewhat easy to find some bigger allies at that point.
Jharkhand getting strong allies is probably the difficult part. In my run they allied some useless OPM to the west which ended up not mattering at all.
The tip for Surguja is: PAIN - Restart - PAIN - Restart (…endless_loop…) Makes Beloozero feel like a fun, always sunny, exotic vacation place…
How Releasables started: "We will build up the nation to a strong stance, measured by them being an undisputable great power". How it is now: "Just fulfill the criteria, doesn't matter if we put us in a loosing situation"

The coalition would have to fight his allies France and Ottoman, I'd run that risk.
? How is this a losing situation? Good income, manpower, army, and navy. The coalition will not declare on him with ottomans and france as allies. This is a strong position.

Something to keep in mind with the Italian signoria reform. It's arguably the best republic reform for monarch points when combined with sortition. you get very good ruler options and a extra candidate that can be around 30 that has a minimum of 3 in each stat, additionally the ruler gains plus 1 on all stats upon election and you save more Republican tradition in the long run while also generating more monarch points for a longer period of time than almost any other republic strategy
With Patiala, I think you need to console-create them, but don't tag into them, let the month tick over first & that should do it. IIRC.
A fun challenge for the video could be to stay a vassle the entire time and to set a goal of making your suzerin a great power. I know it’s weird but hey sometimes weird is good to mix it up. I just wanted to say thank you, your playstyle completely changed how I play and I’m still pretty new, but your content is impeccably beyond satisfactory.
Also you could try starting 15 years later from the start date, it may change how the countries view eachother

What if, to spice up things, we make releasables, a series where you have 3 tries to get free and accomplish your goal, maybe setting a "time limit" to 1550?

The game treats Hawk to an unfair extent some times
