I discovered Bob Dylan when I was 12 years old in 1968. Since then I've never tired of his compositions. Great musician and poet. Long life to Bob Dylan
The exact same with me! Except for me, it was 1978. for the first few years I had no one to talk about this world I had found. I recall vividly when my brother came home from England, and I asked him if they knew who Bob Dylan was in England. He laughed, i was dead serious, so he finally said, "Brother, he may be even bigger than the Beatles and Stones". It was such vindication cause at school all I got was "Dylan sucks" by unknowing folk. Sure they know differently now....

Tenho 61 anos e sempre adorei as canções de Bob , mas marcou muito pra min é a canção CHANGING OF THE GUARDS que eu ouvi pela primeira vez vez aos 18 anos . 1968 I lived with some budding communists members of SDS. I met them I was homeless, 17 years old, panhandling in front of Nedicks in Greenwich Village. I was bright, a hippie, and against the War in Vietnam., but only 17. They became surrogate parents, and allowed me to participate in the debates about Mark's versus Engels, and Lenin versus Trotsky.
We would sit around discussing Bob Dylan, smoking pot, delving deeply into the meaning of his poetry. We were counterculture.
I would draw and write stream of consciousness poetry and they encouraged me. I was their esteemed meme. We lived on Bank Street at the corner of Hudson in front of Abingdon Square, next door live d one of the musicians from Blood Sweat and Tears.
It was an exciting time to be young alive and free in New York City. We were hippies and yippies and united against the war;

Thanks for sharing your memories! I think the spirit you describe is eternal, for some periods it seems dormant, then it flares up. When I listen to some of Bob's songs I think of Francois Villon's poems written five centuries ago. The spirit of justice and freedom lives in us all, and it is eternal. Some of us don't know of it, some of us just need to find the courage to feel it and to speak of it.

Yes "Forever Young" a great song! I love it on stage with the Band. Great great song, cant go wrong. All his songs are relatable to me. But that one really resonates to me.
