God, how I miss these beautiful birds. They used to be everywhere, you couldn’t throw a rock without hitting one, and now they’re almost extinct. It makes me feel old. Please, more 727’s 'JustPlanes'.
I grew up near LAX and flew often and it seemed every airline that flew into LAX operated the beautiful 727.
So true.....is there anything more graceful than these sleek beasts?
I so agree. Loved these dirty girls!
love the metallic AA livery. so vintage!
@Robert Hall The longest lasting of the airline, from the late 60's (68 I believe) right up till the merger in 2015. Silver Eagle was a shining star of good design.
@Robert Hall AA started painting aircraft in 2013 with their 787 order as they wanted the fleet to match... and the 787's composite makeup meant the "bare metal look" was impossible. They left the MD-80 series in the bare metal livery in anticipation of upcoming retirement... just made sense financially. However, they've been painting the tails for years to keep livery uniformity with the A-300s as those have composite tails.
@@Dana_Danarosana Simple solution dont buy plastic airplanes...lol
Astrojet Livery was even better
I guess I'm kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good site to stream newly released tv shows online?
These, the 707, & MD80 series of jets were the TRUE ROCKETS of commercial aviation. They sure didn't sound like the jets of today with "hush kits" and other modern technology. You seriously thought a NASA rocket was taking off folks. And i loved every bit of it.
This is marvellous... So many liveries lost in time! Like a 21-year- old time capsule. Loved the Northwest clips, and obviously the glorious JT8D sound :)
Canadian Plane Spotter I thought the JT8D was only on the 737-200?
@@thereallincolntakanashi Not exclusively the 732, the MD-80 family also uses it
Those American Airlines colors looked just the best! Flew those 727's many times between Detroit and Dallas.
Doctor: You have 10 minutes and 31 seconds left to live.
Me: This video.
Me too
...don't worry if theres a crash you'll be the first to know...
Continental N17773 is still around. It’s now with a charter company and has an active cert.
I LOVE and miss the 'ol 727. No matter what angle you saw it at, it was the poster child of what an airliner should look like.
Hell yes. Never a more beautiful airframe
Back when Boeing made quality aircraft. I miss the 727 so much, and would give anything to fly on one again! Grew up on USAir 727s. If I had more money than brains, I would have one!
😅😅
I flew on a 727-200 from San Diego to San Francisco back in 1979, and man what a flight! That flight was nice , smooth and faaaast!!
I miss the 727.
Me, too. 5,000 hours in them for AAL. Flew all three seats. One of the very best airplanes ever built.
Me, too. 5,000 hours in them. Flew all 3 seats. One of the very best airplanes ever built.
Yes A R: mee too. a wonderful plane, tha Boeing-727. mainly the 200 but a little loudly.
From a plane enthusiasts point of view, The 727 was a beautiful design and if you liked jet noise, three JT8D-15 at full power was like military jet loud.
That number 2 ( center ) engine, under the T-tail,; what an engineering feat to behold !
You know we're going to like the video when you put 727!
I just found my favorite video on youtube. Love the 727! My favorite here was the TWA departure when it's retracting the gear, and also, the Mexicana when it swings its' nose right towards the camera. Such a beautiful jet.
Totally agree... Love the 727 and it was a fantastic airplane!
I had my favorites such as the L1011 and 757, but nothing fascinated me more than a 727. Such a sleek design. Growing up near JFK, those birds were loud but awesome looking. I flew on several Pan Ams, TWA, and Eastern in my young days. Even got to fly on a Piedmont 727. But probably one of my favorites was on Iberia when on several occasions while I visited my family in Spain, the rear stairway was used to board or disembark since many airports lacked air bridges in the 1970s and 80s.
O mais lindo avião que a Boeing já produziu!! Saudades de uma bela aeronave.
*Another amazing flashback. Thanks for sharing!!*
Thank you!
@@justplanes Did American, United, and Delta flew 727s before?
@@justplanes I just wish those 727s could've gone through some major overhaul or renovation and still kept on flying. Then American, Delta, and United would've kept those planes instead of turning them into scrap.
That takeoff scene at 0:45 is awesome! Like the opening scene of a movie
That particular aircraft (N844AA) has a story that could be made into a movie
I flew the 727 for NWA, realized it was a special aircraft in history but forgot how cool looking the tri-jet design was, especially during takeoff and landings. Thanks for the memories!
Thanks for yet another great video! I have many great memories of flying on the 727 ADV, mainly with TWA (another blast from the past).
Absolutely sublime
Still amazes to this day. A proud bird ! Well done Boeing, back in the 1960's. Far exceeded sll expectations.
Fantastic Video, Ty. Ty!
So very happy that one of the airlines I worked for was on the this video, towards the end, KP - KIWI AIR.
Great Memories.!
The 727 is my favorite aircraft of all time 😁👍
This is great nostalgic aviation footage! Very commendable job! Brings back tons of memories for me! A definite treasured jewel here!
Very good quality, i love the engines sound , the Trijets are beautiful
Thank you Andria!
I sure miss seeing the AAL chromed out, bare metallic 727 fleet at GCM/MWCR 🇰🇾 between the 1990s up to its retirement year in 2002.
Boeing really need to revive the 727 fleet, my all-time favorite aircraft.
RIP 727s😭😭
Ricky717Captain Official Yea
R.I.P. 727 (c. 1963-2019)
Even though I never flew it (and probably never will), I loved it. :(
Ricky717Captain Official hence your name, are you a captain on the 717?
@@thereallincolntakanashi no, I'm not. I hope I'll become one in the future, since in a couple of years I'm going to start flight school. Aviation is my drug😂😂
Ricky717Captain Official same here! I watch it as much as I would drink vodka. (If I was old enough.)
Just 10 more years to go. :(
Can you subscribe to me? Please? :)
Mexicana de aviación 😭😭😞 always a great airline. I miss flying in them. Chicago to morelia🙌🏻👌🏻
0:52 Registration N844AA. You know what that plane is.
They used to land and take off over my neighborhood in Miami. It was a nonstop glorious show during busy times of the day.
Cool. I was the 727 like on this video!
Love the 727.
Use to non rev on Continental a lot in the late 80s early 90s. My parents lived in central Florida. Always 727s. IAH - MCO. When those 3 pratts would spoil up. My son's face would have a big smile on it. He just turned 36! How time flies!
A 727-200 is currently under development for MSFS 2020. It will be a study level model. I can hardly wait. I hope they will also make the -100 (which I like the best).
Once it turned into the 2000s the 727 seemingly disappeared overnight
...my last flight on a 727 (200 series) was in early 2001 on the first segment of a return trip from MKE to PDX connecting through DTW. Wish the second segment had been on one as well.
Thanks, love this plane!
This is amazing. Keep up the good work! :)
Thank you very much and we shall do our best!
JustPlanes I didnt know you replied to comments lol
(I'm not first)
Have you considered subscribing to me? I'm also all about aviation. :)
(Sometimes.)
Gorgeous...all of them ....that whining scream. I miss it more than I can explain
727s never had a true replacement until the 737-800 came along
...sadly as the 757 was actually more in the 720/707 class in capacity and range (ithe -200 is just about as long as a 707-320).
Love 727's!!!!!
Omg this is the best!
Beautiful Spotting 💖💕😍
I miss these birds!!
Super footage! MIA was the place!
Loved seeing the NW birds and the DHL. 👌🏻
Some of my best memories are of flying on this magnificent bird.
Every trip I took, I made sure to have a leg on one, even if it meant a lengthy layover or multiple changes en route.
Dang what a throwback
Glad you like it! :)
N844AA thats the plane that disappeared! What a rare and coincidental sight
How I miss that machine, the great 727.
glad I flew her and loved every minute.....well, more or less
727'S Really land solidly with the triple engines at the back of the plane. Takeoff seem to take a bit longer.
Why was this configuration discontinued?
Cheers,
Rik Spector
@Robert Hall Thank you for the informative reply.
Do you think the really giant Jets will go away?
@@rikspector Most of the Trijets are gone nowadays. It will be a shame when the last 747 graces our skies.
@@mrbyzantine0528 UPS helped prolong the life of the 747 with a large order of 747-8 freighters not to long ago. Unfortunately, the writing is on the wall and it's probably a reasonable assumption that the 747 will cease production in the not to distant future as airlines are favoring more economical frames for their fleets.
Money.. twin jets these days could reach further and deliver more power than those tri-jets.. its a shame they're gone 🥲
Wonderful!!!
3:44 XA-MEC is still stored in some corner of MEX...unfortunately in poor condition. Probably a parts plane for south American 727 cargo operators.
1:24 I saw a Boeing 707.
This Is amazing.
The good old days when you had a huge variety of classic aircraft like 727, L1011, DC-10 etc flying. Nowadays it’s boring, all we have is mostly Boeing and Airbus. Computers, iPads in the cockpit, quiet restrictions with no soul.
...yeah plane spotting back in the 60s and 70s was far more enjoyable. Caravelles, 707s, 720s, 727s, DC-8s (standard and stretch) Convair 880s/990s and the somewhat rare but beautiful BOAC VC-10 as well as the widebodies.
Where I live (PDX) it's now pretty much just 737s, Airbus 320s, and RJs. About the only big ones we get anymore are DC-10Fs, MD-11Fs, and 767Fs for DHL, FedEx, and UPS and until February 2022, an occasional AN-124 for Volga-Dnepr.
The experience of flying itself is garbage nowadays compared to what it was in the pre 9/11 era and going back even moreso. They're just operating glorified Greyhounds now.
Great Aircraft. In1996 flew the Miami Air 727, COS- DTW-Can't remember if it was Gander or Goose Bay, but one of em, Dublin and on to Stuttgart. Wasn't full so had a whole row to myself. Luckily they opened the Guiness kiosk for us at 0600 and it was a hearty breakfast!
Back when the 727 ruled the world. That was the very first aircraft I flew on. American Airlines, MSY to DAL back in 2001. I was 11 years old.
AA727 was my first flight! my second was a MD-80
...same here (first flight on a jet), but a -100 from Chicago to New York in the 60s when they still had the classic "Astrojet" livery. I was seated just behind the wing and was amazed at seeing those huge triple lot flaps extend for landing.
Nice to see a Super27 in the video
I didn't see the most beautiful aircraft 🔴 Avianca Boeing 727-200
Loud and Proud!
There is a 727 parked on static display at Fort Lauderdale Intl. Airport.
I didnt know Mexicana operated the 727 lol
And I know them. :)
yes also the 767, A330, and DC10
Mexicana had the biggest 727's fleet outside USA.
M. A. Granados I didnt know that. And I thought I knew Mexicana (I dont know the airline's full name).
@@thereallincolntakanashi Compañía Mexicana de Aviación, S. A. (CMA). IATA Code MXA, Callsign: Mexicana.
@@IlIlIlIlIlIlIlIl-v9h And A-318, 319 & 320, Fokker-100 and 757. Inside Mexican Holding, low fare regional Mexicana Link also operated RJ-100s. Regards.
3:08 😿💓
Those stripes on the nose of the Servivensa 727 were extremely eye catching! Airline liveries have gotten so much more boring these days.
Reminds me of the face mask liveries seen now
@@visionist7 I can definitely see the resemblance to a face mask now. I made that original comment before the pandemic had ever happened.
Miss these beasts
My first flight was on a Northwest 727
...they were a common sight at MKE on both Northwest and United.
Been there for a long time.
To think they were this common back then
Rehan Zainul Abdeen Boeing dominated every aircraft segment 707 727 747 737 777 and ppl still think airbus is better
The Hot Three!!!
6:28 i think that 727 still flies today
still my love
Miami Air 😍😁👍
Que bonito ver ese avión de mexicana
...used to live seeing their Comet 4s at O'hare back in the 60s.
Just American, Mexicana , DHL and FeDex are still flying...
Not Mexicana.
@@kenyipc-78 yes, is right, Mexicana merged with aeromexico in 1993, so in this video just three are flying now....Thanks!
Angel Luis Losa lol, that’s not it. They aren’t flying anymore. That’s like saying United Airways is still flying.
Northwest airlines!
Do you have any Boeing 707 videos?
Love
ok here we go video#2 of the day // i'm gonna be naughty and say something bad...but where is the Eastern Airlines B727..they were the one who premiered this plane and at the time it was called the Whisper Jet and the official airline of Disney World....
They stopped flying about the time we started filming... so probably missed them by weeks
@@justplanes hahahahahahahahahaa.....aaaarrrrgggg.... moving on...where video #3
When the 727 was the 1st plane in the world and not the 737 or a320
That's a looooooooooooooooooooooong rotation 07:37
Amerijet just stopped flying the 727 :(
No Delta 727's?
Not on our 1998 Miami video... just 737-200s mostly.... but plenty of Miami videos of other years that have their 727s...
That Servivensa one 2:54 looks like it's wearing a mask long before it was fashionable
I will save the boeing 727
Didn’t know carnival had an airline??
727 funny number
Over a 1000 produced.. 10-11 cover
At the time I bet it was just another smelly old plane
Now it’s an absolute gem
0:52 N844AA!!!!!
No EASTERN AIRLINES 727!!..Or PAN AM..??
This was 1998, long after the demise of the original Pan Am and the brief revival of the name
0:52 look that
If boeing put leap engines on the 727,
...they would have needed to redesign the entire tail area to accommodate the larger diameter engines. Even if they could have upgraded it with CFM 56s, what contributed to its demise was the old analogue flight deck and 3 person crew requirement By the time the 737NG entered into service, the 727 had depreciated in value to the point that such a refit (including a full glass flight deck) would have cost more than what the aeroplane was worth and by then twin jets were taking over its market.
decent relish here
Hmm No Delta or United 727s
The 727 was the 757 of its time lol!..
Can not imagine one of these beauties full of drugs taking off from Mexico to different countries around the world
3:08 I can see American Airlines airplane. Flight 11 or Flight 77?
There will never be another! I miss working that bird! Safe, sturdy and I knew every sound she was supposed to make…and not.
