    What a beautiful and elegant flower. To me, that elevates "florals" to a new level. The background and contrasts really make it pop. :)

    Michele, Thank you for the wet on wet instruction. I really appreciate the basic instruction of applying water and paint to paper. Today I’ve watched several of your tutorials, recent and not so recent, and tutorials I’ve seen before too. I am focusing on deliberate practice. What I’m trying to say is, now, I understand I cannot copy others to be loose, first I must learn the basics. Thank you so much.

    P.S. I had somehow gotten it into my head that almost everything was done wet on wet. Thank you for clarifying the purpose of that technique. Funny how you can watch several videos about a similar subject but then, someone makes a point that no one else has brought up. I've found that happening in several of your videos. Very grateful for that.

    Of necessity I am still in isolation due to the pandemic and have taken up drawing and watercolor to help get through it. I have started doing lessons from a book for absolute beginners, but your videos provide so much more help. Thank you very much for doing these. I have heard and seen other videos where areas were wet down and then painted and thought that was all there was to “wet in wet.” I have never seen this technique demonstrated as you have done here. It is such a big help and makes so much sense! I appreciate your clear, concise and pointed instruction. When I finish this book, I would like to sign up for a Patreon course with you. Thank you again.

    Yes, indeed this was helpful. I was pre-wetting, using too much water and too much paint. My paints weren't vibrant and they were just blending into each other too much, becoming muddy and washed out. This conserves paint and makes them look vibrant. It's the perfect application. Thank you for sharing this practical application video and the insight you gave to keeping color harmony while developing light and contrast. Beautifully composed, thoughtful teaching video. I very much appreciated this.

    I am doing so much better with wet on wet after painting along with this video. I see now that I need to use a very bright light at my desk when I paint and to tip the paper to watch the water for that magical moment when the wetness is "just right". Sometimes I adjust the water on the paper with a brush. I really need to be patient. I am getting better and I keep on practicing. Thank you!

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, I used masking fluid for the little white stamens (could be the wrong word) and dropped shadow on top. After removing the mask I dropped the little yellow tips in with a small brush.

    Thank you for sharing so generously. I notice your paper isn’t taped down. Are you working from a block? Is it sealed on all sides? You’re getting very close to the edge. Does this affect the papers underneath?

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, so glad you liked the video. I am working on a board of stretched paper, yes it is taped down, that's the brown you can see, it's gummed tape and I often fold it round the edge of the board for neatness, it will be cut off the board on completion. I have a video about the process here on TH-cam if you search :-)

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber

      Hello, I am afraid I didn't film the first part, it was in my early youtube days. I now film all my own work for Patreon subscribers (Tiers 2 and 3) There will also be more short flower tutorials on youtube coming up (I have a Rose and an Iris here already), and there are longer 'mini courses' that you can find via my website.

    Hi Michelle, How do you frame this painting if the watercolor goes right to the edge? No mat?

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Patricia, because it's stretched onto board with tape, when it's cut off the tape remains on the edges, the mat is attached to this border, which is an inch or so. You lose only about quarter of an inch of the actual painting, something I allow for with my standard sizes.
