- After two decades on loan to the Memphis Zoo, Ya Ya, a female giant panda, finally headed home to China on April 27th, 2023. Today is her one-year anniversary of returning home. How has she been doing over the past year? Let's check this video and see.

I'm so glad yaya is back in china! seeing yaya's condition when she was in the US makes me tear up 😿 i hope they never send pandas to america anymore! either way I'm so happy that yaya is doing well now ❤ we love u yaya ❤

Gosh it’s heartbreaking how Yaya and Lele were treated at the Memphis zoo. Makes me so mad! China, don’t ever send any pandas to the US period!
All americans know. Only memphis zoo doesnt know what they were doing to Yaya is abuse. Memphis zoo and yaya's keeper. That women should be feel ashamed.

Thank you for saving Ya Ya before she was like what happened to Le Le.Her body changed a lot now she is healthy look.What happened to LeLe is very sad😢.I hope there will be no more mistreatment of pandas.Lets love them because they have hearts and feelings just like humans.

Goes to show the Americans didn't know how to care for pandas.. i hope they are open to learning and not be prejudiced to learn from the Chinese. Ultimately, the goal is the wellbeing of these animals and their survivability for future generation.
Cant even watch how poorly they been treated before. All those dried and hard to chew bamboos.
Im glad yaya is well taken now but im also sad they're too late to save lele.

But ! Why did China leave the poor pandas alone for 20 years, suffering and starving in Memphis Zoo? Why weren't the poor animals helped? China saw that the pandas were doing badly and they were suffering. Why didn't China pick up the poor pandas earlier? Why did China wait 20 years? Because of panda diplomacy? Because of money? That's inhuman. I do not understand that. Pandas are great treasures of China, they need to take better care of their treasures and not just make money from poor animals.

They were originally well taken cared for. China did send people to Memphis zoo when YaYa’s conditions were noticed. I guess even when China and US relationship worsen, nobody expects zoo keepers to be evil and coward enough to take out their feelings on innocent animals. I still believe this is the action of 1 or few zoo keepers of Memphis. All other pandas around the world and in other zoos in US are all loved and well taken care of.
The pandas were on loan from China under a contract that initially allowed the Memphis Zoo to keep them until 2023. The complexities of international agreements and coordination between Chinese and American authorities contributed to delays in making arrangements for their return. The delay in rescuing and returning YaYa and LeLe was due to a combination of bureaucratic hurdles, inadequate care, logistical challenges, and the need for advocacy and public pressure to prompt action. The tragic death of LeLe and the ongoing concerns for YaYa's health highlight the critical need for better management and care of animals in captivity, particularly in international loan arrangements.
so why didn't the memphis zoo send lele & yaya back? China had to fly 2 panda specialists all the way to beijing for an entire month...They are in memphis zoo, so obviously china can't just go in and take the pandas whenever they want to. It's up to memphis zoo.

No one can tell me that the Memphis Zoo took good care of YaYa and LeLe. The images shown here are the absolute proof that the Memphis Zoo tortured the animals. Mentally and physically. How can it be that YaYa suddenly (finally) gained weight again after her stay at the zoo and looks better now? I'm sure that even LeLe could have been saved and he could still be alive today if they had intervened early enough. Please pay more attention to the animals you give away and/or lend out! Their story must not repeat!
Hope Ya Ya and Le Le's tragedy will never be repeated anywhere in the world.🙏🙏
