To put it into perspective, a lot of us were 11 or 12 yrs old when Assist Me was a thing. Rewatching the series is like binging old morning cartoons you used to love.
And not a lot of youtube channels from that era are recognizable anymore. Some turned to corporations, some broke up on a bitter note, and some just dissolved into obscurity.
The fact that you can rewatch an old show like Assist Me and see that the guys behind it are still going strong. That's some feel good sh*t man. Yo Videogames is great because of that.

What made me fall in love with Max's channel back in the day was the fact that he focused on "fighting games are fun" instead of "how to get good" it's so nice to watch these old videos.
Still channel's consept is games are fun Nothing like how to that Combo videos

It may not age well, but this series legit helped me understand game mechanics and i will forever love the assist me series

I would say, this series is a testament to the age when TH-cam was for low budget creators.
And it's still funny ^^. Sure the acting changes for the better and the production value went up... But there is something more honest in those mid days TH-cam sagas.
And I kinda miss that.
It has that homemade "guys in a basement" feel, just a bunch of people having fun making something dumb, that's why I loved Smosh too. Things are always high production and high budget. Makes it feel so strict. Miss the days of loose fun

It kinda devalues something other people might jive with that I don't or brushes off a theme or message that is being delivered just because it's not subtle or is heavyhanded. Campy, corny or cheesy, I'm completely fine with those terms personally.

Even as someone who didn't even know this series existed before following Max, it's still really fun and intriguing hearing them reminisce and discuss the production of their very 2010's TH-cam show
Hopefully soon, we'll get "Assist RIPLEY" as Max teaches Ripley how to play fighting game characters. Right?

Simmons as doom was the best thing about assist me. His obsession for yogurt, hating the fantastic four, always eating Max's food and his hilarious grunt everytime he walks. To this day I still know the epic MVC3 rap battle by heart
In Max's eyes it may not have aged well, but I still absolutely love all the Assist Mes and always get a ton of laughs from them!
The assists mes and online warrior were what got me into fighting games. Thanks for all things max

What a blast from the past. 10 years... Fortunately "Young Max" doesn't seem so different than what he is now. The amount of effort, time and resources he put into making those Assist me videos are insane.

It aged so poorly that it actually aged well, It's a series that is full of passion that I think it still shines today!

Yeah, I remember that they even threatened a Cease & Desist, basically saying "this video is fine, but don't make any more like it". Which is odd to me, because there's tons of ERB parodies out there (although this could be before they got really famous).

Yeah i remember finding out Capcom liked praised Max and assist me and such, i mean what could be better than a huge gaming company like capcom doing that.
Square Enix did similar using Max's react video to FFVII Remake during the behind the scenes of FFVII Remake or some interview i forgot what but the Devs of FFVII Remake still recognized Max and Gang's Reaction to the E3 2015 reveal of FFVII Remake
They used that as motivation

This is what had me find your channel back in the day as someone who was trying to get good at Marvel 3 back in the day. Maybe it's because I'm an older guy, but to me the Assist Me series was kind of like one of the last things i remember people making on TH-cam that had that good old "friends just making shit to do it" vibe, especially the first couple of seasons. One of the last things before TH-cam got hella corporate and the like. It will always hold a special place in my heart for that. I revisit those bloopers often on rough days. I think I've said it before at some point on a TH-cam comment or stream donation but i can't say it enough, thanks for years of quality content.
It may be silly. But man. It's the fun kind of silly. I may not play fighting games but I always liked how you weren't super serious in these. Fighting games and learning them can be intimidating as all hell so the more lighthearted goofy stuff just makes it a fun introduction to the genre

I have been following you since you were uploading sf4 videos from a cell phone camera. I loved the Assist Me series. That was peak Mahvel. The community was so united back then. Hopefully one day we get a new MVC.
I remember the first time I heard about Max is back then when I was in college. Some of my friends love playing UMvC3 and they look at videos of Assist Me made by you Maximilian. Plus I even remember someone had a cool shirt of Dante about his moves to perform combos and ends with his taunt. God it's been so long ever since I first got to know you. You're one of my favorites and you still are.
I remember looking at Assit Me videos while I was in middle school. Now I'm about finish my associate degree and looking back, gave me a sense of nostalgia.
Man...talk about what got me to enjoy your channel originally Max. Like literally I remembered when UMVC3 came out & I was looking up combos n'stuff to get good & I ran into your channel & this is what got me to stay as long as I have. Years later & it still brings a fucking smile to my face. Especially since it's because of this I met the crew (Simmons, Mike, Kenny, & Steve). So once again as an old fan...thank you ^ ^
It has definitely uhhhhhh yeah it's aged hahah. But the thing that gave me shellshock was that I legitimately forgot what Max without facial hair looked like. I swear I had to pause and let my brain focus for a solid 4-5 minutes before finishing LOL. Loved the throwback here.
But no joke: Assist Me was the best fighting game marketing schtick ever.
You really should expand on this again! Even just putting costumes into your videos.
I remember binging through the whole Assist Me series with my brother both as a way to get better at the game and just to have fun. It might be weird to look back on it now, but this series is what made me take fighting games seriously as well as actually having fun in the process (and finding Max's channel, of course).
These videos were super helpful to me when I played MvC3 and Ultimate.

This aged beautifully imo I would actually go back and watch it sometimes. It also gave me good flashbacks to when I was I middle school.
I actually found you because of the ERBOH bit Doom vs Wesker. I remember hating it because my young mind thought people are copying them 😂.
But when I found it again after a while and forgot about it until I remembered I saw this before I loved it.
So I'm glad I saw it and I'm glad I refound your channel and followed ever since.

it's crazy to think that it was here @19:50 that I fell in love with Rocket, when I saw his moves and playstyle, and watching Kusoru bust ass at Final round that I was sold completely on mastering the character. At the time I had not even played vanilla Marvel 3, and watching these were a true joy. Thank you so much Max.

While the show MAYBE hasn’t stood the test of time, I always find myself coming back to the bloopers for each episode because they are hilarious to this day

I grew up on assist me and all I want to say is thank you guys for making the series. It was not only really cool, but also because of it that I got through alot of rough patches. Definitely one of the brightest spots in my 20's.

LOL tbh I actually found Max via his Doom vs Wesker ERB parody and I decided to stick around after that to see what the crew gets up to with other games.
Pfft that series was incredible. Still some of my favorite fighting game content around! Laughs and charm, as well as info!
At the beginning, I've watched Max's content mainly for his reactions and some gameplays once in a while but the longer I've watched him, the more I've realized that he made me want to come back to those days were I used to play fighting games like Budokai Tenkaichi 3 or Bloody Roar 2.
DUDE I would say it definitely aged in a good way like fine wine 🍷 because I grew up on the assist me series when I was younger back in my high school days and you made me inspired also got me into fighting games! 🤘🏼

I honestly think it is still fun to watch. I feel like this is mostly a case of when a content creator sees there own work from something years ago, they just can’t help but cringe at there older selves. Not sure why but it feels like a thing that is just universal when it comes to content creators.

UMV3 was my first fighting game, i'm here since the assit me series
I discovered this series late, around 2016. And honestly I think it aged pretty well. It captures the time period rather well. When Ultimate came out, fighting games were going through a resurgence thanks to SFIV. They had a lot of character and soul and it really shows with these.
I was glad to see this program when I was young, without a doubt I will continue to remember it with great affection
I'm still wondering what happened to season 3 and when do you plan to release it in full?
