I popped into Superdrug today and picked up a pallet by MUA makeup academy and it’s a great dupe for makeup by Mario the original. It was £6! New brand to me, Superdrug only
Hey Anne-Marie! MUA makeup academy have some fabulous products- they are so underrated and I’m not sure why?! It always feels amazing to get a great bargain! ☺️🩷
I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised to see that you love that palette (I don't know that brand but I like what they did). I didn't feel comfortable sharing recommendations because from what I gathered of your preferences (please correct me if I'm wrong), you seem to be more into soft shimmers (which I like also). So if you want to experiment with sparkly shimmers formula but without necessarily going full on the glittering road, I'm sure you'll love at least one of these palettes: new neutrals from Glossgods (decent price for what you get, good if you love neutrals but you want to try several shimmers formula at once), dragon eye from what's up beauty (colors that's versatile enough to create neutrals and colorful looks, the palette is made in Italy and the formula is more lightweight), numerals from cosmic beauty (it's one of the most wearable color stories in their collection, a good option if you like warm tones, no complaint about the formula and it's affordable for what you get). From Unhearthly Cosmetics, I think you might like sorcerous smoke (the most neutral one) or Dreamer (if you love purple and cool tones). It's the most expensive brand I mentioned (costs more than Natasha Denona but less than Pat McGrath or Byredo). Blend Bunny is one of the brands I love the most for her matte formula, but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like to blend (it's pigmented for m,e, and I don't mind because of my tan skin too, me, but I don't know about the average makeup consumer). If you like blending, All Done Up is a great "spicy neutral" palette and The DollHouse (discontinued but still available on glisten cosmetics) is one of the best choices for neutral lovers who want a little more color. Finally, one of the safest choices to try indie brands if you're coming from the mainstream is Sydney Grace. It's in my top 3 matte formula (I can't always wear makeup, and it's one of the few brands that works for me when I want to do a quick look and I'm in a rush), BUT their shimmers aren't sparkly. If you can, wait until their Christmas in July sale, where they do 30-35% off their palettes (it's a US brand, so you'll have to pay for shipping and custom fees). I have Heaven on Earth, Love Journey (my favorite), and Southern Spring. I think you might like the bridal palette they released as a collaboration with a makeup artist. Ps: I found out about indie brands very late through small beauty creators (2023), and it's hard for me to get back into mainstream brands because I finally found brands that show up on my tan skin tone, have better quality in terms of formula, more teeth color stories and costs a fraction of the price. I don't trust a lot of people when it comes to reviews (you're on the list 😘), but Floating in Dreams and Kari Meghan are creators I watch for reviews. I know this is too long, and nobody will probably read it, but I had to share. Let me know if you have questions 😊
@tamara7918 The shimmer formula is on the chunkier side for most palettes (except maybe the molten metals, but I didn't try it), so you can't skip the eyeshadow primer if you have oily lids (I don't, and I also use eyeshadow primer). I know most people prefer a thinner formula, so Cosmic Brushes, Whatsup Beauty, and Unearthly Cosmetics are good options. If you're really interested, feel free to watch reviews from smaller creators (I don't trust people who get all the releases in PR).

@@ruthschambers Thank you so much, Ruth! The RMS and Kosas bronzers look beautiful and it’s great to hear that you’ve had such a great experience with them! However I just moved away from them because I started to dislike the feel of them…I’ve no idea why! Do you have a good one to recommend? 🩷
I don’t always use them but in the winter I’ve found I’ve been reaching for them more. I have tried the Elemis superfood one…. But there’s one that’s blown me away out of the blue. It came in a “Hydration Edit” box from Naturismo. It was just a small bottle of pure organic jojoba oil from a brand called Fushi organic. I didn’t really have any expectations but it was just so light and gentle. My skin was feeling a bit aggravated, sensitive and dry and I had had an under-the-skin breakout. And the jojoba oil just smoothed on so beautifully and really soothed and hydrated my skin without feeling greasy or heavy. I’ve found I’ve been wearing it on its own overnight at times when my skin is just feeling a bit out of sorts. It feels so gentle and natural. I read that is the same structure/consistency as human sebum so maybe that’s why. I didn’t expect to love it so much. Normally I’m a big one for layering lots of lotions and potions but this is just so comfortingly simple and scent free with zero irritation and I wake up with my skin feeling a lot calmer. I’m even thinking if repurchasing when it runs out. In the same box there was an Upcircle Beauty oil so I’ll test that out next. I seem to have got so many adverts about them lately but never tried their products xx💜
@@ruthschambers This is great Ruth, I love getting recommendations like this! So you say it was in a box from Naturismo, did you purchase directly from their website? Xx
