You know what I realised after watching the movie for the like 6th time? The cars in it go VERY slow, like extremely slow. Its just the camera angles that make you think its fast. But having shit cars, engine and fuels (i.e. rusty), and being tired and weak and bruised, it makes it seem like theyre speedy war machines to the war boys So its relevant to the world and story. I dont know if its intentional but its a clever decision
I'm hearing "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" samples here... Seriously, listen to Transformers 3's soundtrack and this, and see if you find any familiarities.
