  • Found a way to correct feeding issues by relieving some material with a needle file. I prefer my Tapco mags over these, but not a bad magazine for the price. Well, now with the pending restrictions coming, I think they may have just gone up in value. Hope this info is helpful. All comments welcome. Thanks for watching.

hey dude have you range tested them yet just wondering before i buy some. There is never much online about mini 14. I love mine, has never jammed yet and most of my buddys AR's do at least once while at the rang.

The ones I had worked fine once modified. Although my use of them was limited since I prefer using the Tapcos, which have gone the way of the DoDo.

My experience so far with any nylon/zytel mag, is steel case ammo doesn't ride as smoothly as brass.. how do these mags do for ya and do you still use em.? I had to smooth out the Tapco's too, before they re-worked their production line in '13 but the Tapco's do work almost as good as my factory ones,... Thanks PoormanPrepper

Erik K, I haven't shot steel through them, so really can't say much on the subject. But it makes sense that the brass cases may interface better with the poly mags since brass is softer than steel.

I would not use steel cased bullets in my rifle. They are dirty and wear the barrel too fast.

I agree. Brass cased is the best. I think I just grabbed these for the video. I really can’t remember. It was 11 years ago 😂

Chris do you have the newer 580 series, or an earlier version? That may make a difference.

Dullahan, not understanding your question. Closed bolt loading? Please clarify. Thanks.

What series is your Mini 14? Does the serial number begin with a 5 or a 1?

I know this video is crazy old, but I just bought 10 of these for about $3 a piece. Gonna see how they shoot but hell, they're brand new so I couldn't pass them up.

Oldie but goodie haha. Wow, at $3 a pop, I would have bought some too. Let me know how they work for you.

I bought a 3 of the 3 packs and 1 extra single (So I'd have 10) off of Sportsman's Guide and took advantage of the membership deal they had for 3 months of free shipping over $75. Well, my point is I got em for about $7 a piece.
I also grabbed 7 of the steel Promags off of Gunmag Warehouse because I love the look of steel mags and the steel ones are my ready loaded mags because polymer feed lips will lose some tension if loaded 24/7.
One might question why I got so many mags for a Mini 14 (Ranch Tactical), but here's my reason: It's my preferred Combat rifle and Open Class 3-Gun rifle. Archangel Sparta stock, Leatherwood Hi-Lux 1-4X24 LPVO, Magpul BUIS, Angled foregrip, and a couple picatinny rails bolted on the sides of the forend for accessories.

My thermold mags dont lock in right and have a nice feature of dumping the insides of the magazine out on the ground.
