Kadıköy is beautiful because it is native. The places that you find catastrophic were also beautiful like 10 years ago when it was relatively more native

Spent a week in Kadikoy back in March . Even though it snowed off and on the entire trip I had a wonderful time. For me Istanbul is the most beautiful city I’ve been to. 🙂

You might find it interesting that according to Google Maps 30 km from Kadiköy there's a village of Polonezköy. Settled in 1842 it by Polish refugees after failed uprising against Russia. It is still unusual cultural, genetic and culinary Polish-Turkish mix. I hope you can fit it in your schedule.

I was born and raised in Istanbul, yes you are right, Polonezköy is in a very wonderful place and there are still people of Polish origin, that's why it's called Polonezköy.

@@TwoMadExplorers Beside Polish food which unfortunately we don't have where I live in the States I love Mediterranean kitchen (especially Persian and Greek, but also Turkish.) One thing I didn't realize is that Turkish food can get spicy. What I have had here in the States at Turkish restaurants is not spicy. I do like a hint of spicy for that extra something added as long as it doesn't kill my taste buds and I can still taste my food.😄 I'm going to inquire regarding spicy dishes next time I'm at a Turkish restaurant.

@@TwoMadExplorers you’re welcome! also go to migros pick up some kaymak, honey, nutella, peanut butter and tahin pekmez (tahini molasses mix) after that go to a bakery at 7 AM and pick up some simit while it is hot and fresh out of the oven. Then open up the simit and put inside 50-50 combinations of kaymak with other stuff. Like kaymak-honey / kaymak-Nutella / kaymak-peanut butter / kaymak tahini molasses mix. Thank me again later! 🥰 I promise you you’ll experience heaven on earth.

As a Turk, Çiğköfte is the most consumed food by Turks. It is both very cheap and delicious. I eat raw meatballs at least 3-4 times a week :)

The European side of Istanbul has so many tourists, immigrants, and expats that in certain places you would feel like you're in a different country by the amount of non-Turkish signs you see around. The Asian side is definitely better because you get to see actual Turks and Turkish-owned shops. I hope you had fun there ❤

exactly what us locals think! european side of istanbul is overrated but tourist choose staying there despite the fact that they can stay in a way better side, asian side, and still be able to see touristic places with a small ferry ride. Asian side is way local, chill and overall better place to be! i recommed checking üsküdar as well and for the european side, beyoglu and besiktas are 2 neighbourhoods worth visiting
