Finally , Neutral profile is the winner 😁. I had project failed using cinestyle as the image damage could not be recovered on post editing. But neutral profile is all we need , it looks cinematic enough even without colorgrading. 👍👍. And for beginner "activate MF peaking mode" is really helpful as we often shoot in manual focus mode when doing b roll and stuff, that will help us to find shallow depth of field by giving red or orange highlight on subject.

great video! whats the idea behind the decision to shoot at f2.8 and not f2?
2.0 is a bit too blurry, especially for the closer/detail shots. Then the background is all mooshed and unrecognisable (for me anyway 😊). 2.8 is also a tad sharper.

Love your videos. I got the M50 as my first camera just a few weeks ago and I watched your amazing DaVinci color grading video as well as your studio setup. I struggle to get it as dark as you have and I even have the exact same measurements from camera, light, back wall etc. Everything is just white. Do you use ND filters indoors also?
Hey Per! No, I don't use ND filters indoors. How's the lighting in your room? Mine has absolutely no natural light coming in so I have full control over the lighting.

Hi, great video.. quick question: so when you shot in 60fps, how did you double (x2) the speed in speed ramping? meaning did you play in 30fps?
I edit everything on a 24 fps timeline so that 60fps footage is slowed down to 40%.
Hey I really like your channel as user of m50 (mark I) and appreciate your knowledge, good job dude. Maybe You could help with my problem with this 22mm f2 lens. Everytime when I try to record talking head video with af facetracking, no matter if it's in my hand or on a tripod - my eyes are blurry.. Only if I stand absolutely static my eyes stay sharp.. Please let me know if u had that issue with this lens. It's really annoying and i couldn't find any slution in google..

@@JorisHermans the kitlens is ok, didn't notice this issue. That's really weird cause with manual focus everything is fine and it's super sharp. Maybe it's software problem or sth..

Try the $14 Visioncolor profile which I use on my m50 it has a flat profile (not as flat as Cinestyle and much nicer highlight rolloff than cinestyle) and a teal-and-orange-profile that looks pretty cinematic without editing

Very nice Joris! I personally have the 200D/SL2 which I would dare say is very similar to the M50, and I also really don't like Cinestyle. A few months ago I found some custom made profiles called LOG1 and LOG4, they're really awesome, while the author recommends to use LOG4, I find it gives way too strong of a yellow tint, while the LOG1 is AMAZING, I really recommend trying it :D
Also congrats on the 10k, it's pretty mindblowing! I've been following you for a few months, when you were around 1.5/2k, awesome job!

You can buy any brand on Amazon. Just needs to be 43mm in size. I got one from K&F and one from Gobe.

since when can the CanonM50 shoot at 120 FPS? Mine cant...
Sure it can. In the Movie Rec Quality menu instead of selecting Movie Rec Size (frame rates) enable the High frame Rate setting underneath. But remember it's 720p only.
Question....what picture style are you shooting in?
For this cinematic sequence I used the Neutral picture profile and I turned down contrast and saturation. That way I can do a bit of color grading.

Cinematic with RGB profile? Oh god... You need a Magic Lantern firmware and enable 14-bit RAW for cinematic footage. In official Canon firmware you cannot shoot cinematic. You cannot edit highlights, shadows, blacks, midtowns etc... Never, but really never dont edit flat footage from camera (without C-Log or RAW). Try my tip and reinstall your firmware with Magic Lantern and after that can You see what is really cinematic ;)
