Not sure if it's because of the acoustics in the building, but the percussion in the beginning - sounded annoying like a stick banging on something. Doesn't go well at all

I agree! Strange accoustics. My favorite version of this deeply moving piece is the one from the movie Brassed Off. That rendition will make you cry. Every time. 🐧🌿
