At the end of Deathmatch, Dearest reflected upon himself. "So this is how it ends? With such a low blow...?"
He knew the corruption was low, but not that absurdly, sickeningly low. He couldn't let that "thing" keep on harming others. He's the world's last hope.
As BF was leaving after DD semeed defeated, he heard something. Was it singing...? He needed to check it out. Pico followed along, just to be safe.
However, that was Dearest's plan. He would bring them ALL to justice. No matter the cost.
This shouldn't have taken as long as it did.

the concept for hopeless was made before soul bf was a thing, so we had originally assumed that glitch bf would be back.
so, in hopeless, cbf would tap into the glitch's power to try and shut DD down, although it backfired because bringing DD into the pixel world made pico unable to assist in keeping dd's corruption stable. and since dd had one less person to fight, he could recover easily and shut them both down
i mean glich is sorta the corruptions manifestation of a soul? so it sorta works out?
isn’t glitch bf literally the pixel world manifestation of the corruption if anything that would not backfire on anyone but dd
