Not sure if it's a good suggestion, but when you are analyzing a certain song, maybe adding it in the background very quietly would be nice enchantment. Anyways, love the channel and waiting for more!
It's a great suggestion, I would love to incorporate music into my long form videos, but I get warnings from Warner Bros. about copyright on the videos that I do use his music. Even the music John released under Record Collection. I just get paranoid that one day, WB will be able to control visability or collect revenue from my work.
I’ve always heard those same lyrics u mentioned at first the brothers who drove arrows is immediately recognized as a real situation with real people not esoteric like his other lyrics
I only knew John for a year in high school, but at that time, I knew he was the tripiest person that I ever knew. Still the case 'til this day. Shy, but once he knew you, you knew where he stood with you. Very opinionated. Doubly smart and rambunctious. At that time, cigarettes (Winston Reds) and coffee were his only vice. Well, if you include music, art in general really kept his mind flowing. Thoughts. Hypothetical thoughts and ideas on many aspects. John was a master-debater!!! 😂😂😂 Steve Vai was big time on his radar at that time. Jimi, of course, and I loved to bug him to play Purple Haze for me. He, of course, was a teen and could lay into you, but you knew if it was playful or scathing. I'd love to let him know that I remember those times fondly. ❤
I never connected those lyrics so directly to era's of his life. I knew it was about some enlightenment experience(s). But I guess it makes sense this way.
Very nice video! I have note about the dead of John, if this sleeping/dead is simbolic. Because I read few years ago that at the end of his drug use when he was brought to the hospital, he was for short period of time clinicaly dead. If its something on it, it will also explain transcendent experience for him and all these things which he captures in his lyrics. What do you think about it? Thanks for the video, I will be waiting for next ones:)
Thanks for the comment! I appreciate the question. I think you're right that the near death experience you mentioned plays a part in his lyrics. And there is a good chance that some of the lyrics do reference that event in his life. However, the hospital visit doesn't match the timeline described in the video. There was a distinct moment early on that changed who he was, and I equated that moment with a symbolic death. I think that it would be interesting if a link between the hospital death and spicific lyrics could be found.
@@mirrorsarewatertahnks for answer. What you did with this album I did few years ago with Empyrean as in that album is lots to cover as you mentioned. I was specialy intersted in music and lyrics in song One more of me. In combination with Enought of me, it create whole new song from point of music and also lyrics. I would love to hear your thoughts on this album and combination of these two songs 😁 when I heard them for the first time together, it was wow moment for me.
Yeah I enjoyed that video! I thought that was a nice addition, mentioning One More / Enough of Me. The Empyrean is a difficult album for me. On the one hand, John did more work explaining the background of the album than any other. But it also is so symbolically dense that every lyric and musical shift is telling us something. I hope to get there one day, but I feel like I'm not ready to take it on just yet.
If so, do you have please some links where I can find some more information about this album from John himself, explainging it? I listen to this album and play it on guitar many times since 2009 but never saw from John talking or writing about these songs and concept of albume as hole. I always just use my own interpretations of the songs 😁
Sure! John wrote a series of blog posts on his website during the release of the album. Unfortunately, they have since been deleted, but you can use the web.archive.org/ to explore his old posts. Someone grabbed the Empyrean posts and organized it in this google doc: docs.google.com/document/d/1fb3Ifadmm7ayPkvGjw6WtLHcp9E2rk-awF3ZOeIJF-8/edit?tab=t.0 Have fun reading them!
Great quote. It's a shame that once he released his most explicitly religious album, he quit talking about anything publicly, let alone his religious views.
@@linguafranca86 yeah my bad we both misquoted. "My religious point of view is something I can't really talk about. It goes against my belief system, to talk about my spiritual beliefs." But i mean the implications are dead obvious
If not a concept album, I believe "Far Away" refers to his girlfriend at the time Mila, who treated him poorly towards the back end of their relationship as she saw him first as someone who she wanted to see, and over time only wanted him to be that person she saw at the start. Hence, "I cant pretend to be who im not/There are things you need from me I havent got". Ending it with "only one way for things to be between you and me" signifying the hurtful end of the relationship.
Great, this is a perfect critical comment. But, I did mention the dual interpretation of this song in the video. If you have anymore thoughts, leave a comment. I'd like to do a second video that better explains my position. I feel like this video didn't land the way I expected and I'd like to know specific things to address.
Someday I will. I have some cool ideas for that album, but there are things that I want to cover first. In the meantime, if you take the philosophy of Ep.1 & 2, you will be able to uncover some pretty cool meanings from SCWP.
So true. It was so hard to know what was important to the whole and what weighed it down. I'm definitely not done. There are things I'd like to return to with different context. Thanks for the comments!

The empyrean is a whole different kettle of fish. It's superbly brilliant
Sure is, I'm planning on getting to it at some point.

"The will to death" and "Inside of Emptiness" are two of my favorite albums of all time.
I never connected those lyrics so directly to era's of his life. I knew it was about some enlightenment experience(s). But I guess it makes sense this way.
great research. Much like a lot of us, John has been my favorite musician since circa 1993 but especially since 2002.
Thanks! I started listening to the Chili's in 99. DC EP was my first time hearing a solo album. Good times.
There's so much to unpack, loved watching this.
Great to hear you enjoyed it!
I damn love these Videos. Also their philisophical, psychological explaination here. Well done Mister :D
Thanks for the support!

The research is top tier!
What if this channel was like trickfinger, where it’s actually just John explaining himself under a guise lol
Haha, thanks for the complement. I wish I had a direct line to JF, It would make this project a lot easier :)
"It's against my religion to talk about my religion."
- John Frusciante (my favorite quote of his)
Great quote. It's a shame that once he released his most explicitly religious album, he quit talking about anything publicly, let alone his religious views.
@@mirrorsarewater I assume he was likely initiated into a school by that time, so it makes sense
I think he used the words"belief system" instead of "religion".

@@mirrorsarewater I know, thats why i said if its not a concept album, because if it is, your theory adds up
Haha, sorry. I thought that was a typo and you were saying "Its not" a concept album. (I've been getting that a lot lately.)
This is insanely good. You've researched your entire ass off. 😊
love your content and want you to make more
Thanks! I have more coming!
Can you please make a video on 'Shadow collide with people'.

Excellent video. Where did you find the interview footage around the 11:50 mark? I've never seen that interview clip before.
Thanks! The clip was taken from this video, round 6min mark: th-cam.com/video/bwurMkraHZk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=V6Kg8IzsvdTreZNs
everyone will have there own theories on little things, stick with the bigger sections of the whole.

3:53 where's that background from?
Are you asking about the background photo I used? Or the background to my premise? The photo is from Passo Giau. Stock photo.
