I used this to teach for years, so good. So many details puts the simple phrase "by the gift and power of God" into context of the overall restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The seer stone is mentioned at 16:10. This is one of only about 5 sources that apologists generally reference to show that the church was open and honest about the seer stone being used in translation. Taken in context, most members would assume that when he said seer stone he was referring to the Urim and Thummim. If you really want references to the seer stone along with a discussion, there are a number of references from about 1920-1934 in the Sunday school lessons. Otherwise, the 1974 Friend is the most descriptive reference prior to about 2014.
Where, when, and to whom was this originally addressed? The date is given as 1993, but I am finding it difficult to find additional source information. This was reprinted in 1997 in the Ensign evidently with only small changes.
I worked at a audio video duplication center back in the 90s. I think these were for the LDS church, but theyt were for the teachers and faculty of the Seminaries and Institutes. This one and "The Things of My Soul" from Elder Boyd K. Packer are two of my favorite videos on this.
+Marco Guerrero That is very true. It just stood out to me as it is such an issue for some people nowadays. It may have been inappropriate to editorialize, but it might be useful information for some to know.
I just love Neal A. Maxwell! His talks always inspire me! Thanks for unloading!

My dear Brother and Mentor how I have missed your ministry!

The hat doesn't need to be mentioned. It's either from God or not is what matters

I see your point. It just came across the wrong way :)
I enjoy your videos by the way. They're excellent and great material for teaching
