    Have you had any luck with Sun roses?
    If I let them dry out between waterings, then I get brown dry leaves. If I water them more then I get soft limp leaves. What do I do?

    Bothering you little more, if you can just write the exact ratio of the soil mix to prepare at home either here or in the description.?

      Hi, thank you for your comment. Here's our recommendation for basic succulent soil mix that promotes airflow, root growth, and drainage:
      3:2:1 POTTING SOIL + BARK FINES + PERLITE/PUMICE
      Hope it could be helpful for you

    Can we make a soil mix like this:
    1 Part Vermiculite
    1 part pumice
    2 part sand
    ½ part compost

    • @yasirsohail9660
      @yasirsohail9660 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @SucculentsBox

      Hi there, our recipe is soil, bark fines and perlite in 3:2:1 ratio. Your recipe should be fine, it is recommended to test your the drainage of your mixture before using! Hope this helps!

    For beginners please post a detailed video elaboratingeach parameter. A perfect soil mix is what any succulent asks for. What fertilizer to be given and how much. It will be very helpful

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great suggestion! The info about soil mix and fertilizer are actually disclosed in this video. As per the soil mix, any well-drained soilmix will do, you can buy it at the store or make one yourself. As per the fertilizer, once a year during their growing season is enough.

    hi it's me again do you know what happens when you cut off spikes on cactus that are to long do they rott or nothing happens???

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once the spines are removed, new spines will emerge only from the living spine primordia of new areoles that form along the stem as the cactus grows 🌵

    Soil Question: When soil is correct, how long should it stay damp to touch after watering? A couple days, a week? I have made up my own soil and it drains fast but stays damp to touch for longer than I believe it should. All my plants or indoors.

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. It’s always better to be underwater than overwater. Therefore, we recommend that you water once every 2 weeks at first, then observe your succulents’ reactions and adjust the watering schedule accordingly. But it should be watered when the soil completely dry at the touch

    would lava rocks crushed down work as a replacement for pumice?

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, they both are excellent as a component of succulent potting soil. Therefore, you can use lava rocks to replace pumice in your mix

    since egg shell is insoluble, how does it benefit the plants? especially since you're removing them after a few days?

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, plants absorb calcium from the soil in order to grow healthy and strong. And the thing is, eggshells contain more than 90% calcium carbonate, as well as other nutrients that your plants' soil requires, but not all of them. You can try this if you want to treat your plants.

    • @freedive2370
      @freedive2370 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@SucculentsBox but its insoluble. it doesn't dissolve. in other words, you don't add Ca++ to the soil solution using egg shells.

    what npk fertilizer can i use for succulents?

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure you use balanced fertilizer. An inappropriate fertilizer can cause nutrient burn. To feed your succulents, you should use organic fertilizers such as bone or a manure or compost tea.

      I've found that succulents like to be drowned, then left to dry for a while, mine were in terracotta pots and i would just set them in a sink of water instill the water soaked all the way through. I've had mine live for 4 ish years, ans have propagated them too

    The pre-mixed cactus and succulent soil I bought killed my succulent because the soil retained too much water. So frustrating

    • @SucculentsBox
      @SucculentsBox  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could add more pumice/perlite into the mix to increase the drainage

    • @katie4623
      @katie4623 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@SucculentsBox thanks, I’m gonna try that. What I don’t understand is why all these premixed succulent soils aren’t actually suitable for succulents out of the bag? Or do conditions vary so much that it’s impossible?

      maybe because people want their succulents to look symmetrical in its shape or want it to fit nicely in its growing container. Aesthetics is probably the number one answer.

      Si lo pensamos Bien 🤔
      La naturaleza las mima a ellas en su propio hábitat
      Ellas toman sus diferentes nutrientes,oxígeno,microorganismos en el suelo Q le ayudan a su crecimiento,creando defensas por si solas «pero están en su zona de confort» LIBRES.
      Mientras Q tu las tienes en un espacio muy limitado y los nutrientes, un buen suelo etc.
      Es el Q tu mismo se lo proporcionas y tu mismo debes Observar 🤓 si a ellas les gusta o no el sustrato ó suelo, nutrientes etcétera. Q tu les des.
      CREÓ Q ME HICE ENTENDER 😀
      {Suculentas en Su hábitat lo proporciona la naturaleza}
      (Suculentas en maceta su hábitat se lo proporciona uno mismo) 😯
