The Craft was to me what Practical Magic was to Ariel. It sent me wandering around our local alternative bookstore browsing spell books, crystals and essential oils. The memories 👻😊
When Maggie shared the anecdote about someone asking her if she washed her face :^) Hits hard lmao! My skin was (still is) bad, but generally, people usually know better than to comment on it. Hair, on the other hand...! Shoutout to all the men who commented on my hair frizzing up and asking if I combed it when it's literally Just My Hair Texture!
I'm such a water baby and baths are my #1 self care. I also have chronic pain, like Zach, so they're helpful for that but I've always loved them. Have a little at home spa day once a week just makes me feel so much better. Manis and pedis were another because I like that "put together" feeling they give me, too
Lol! Self care: I did yoga yesterday and then went to purposefully get a donut after. Today, I'm listening to this while I'm going for a long walk. Thanks for being a part of my self care routine each week. 🥰
I would love to watch Ariel’s organization vlogs or like before/after cleaning in stories. I bet it’s so satisfying with a kid around. But also I think Ariel would love a pretty notebook for bullet journaling. Like even if you don’t draw or put stickers in it but it’d be great to see how much to-dos you do.
I feel Ariel with the disliking showers and everyone thinking she's crazy. I used to be super annoyed with going to the bathroom. I just hated it. Like peeing is relieving, but I hated the time it took when I could be doing other things like staying in bed or continuing whatever activity I'm working on. My old roommate used to tell me that my bladder would fall out. Whatever. It's served me well in covid time when I drive to another city to visit my family and don't always pee while I'm in town.
happy Election Day everyone!! No matter what, just remember that you are loved and be a kind human❤️❤️ I was waiting for the past couple of hours for this pod to come out because it’s the highlight of my week!!!!! Love you guys🥰🥰
“I don’t think that jealousy needs to be there, but I do find myself feeling that way, you know?” honestly just love how these women just word themselves, not to mention becky’s amazing inclusivity!
Hooray for LISTS, Ariel!!! This is such an easy organizational tool; as a mom of 3 and a full=time teacher, this kept me on top of my life most all the time!!
I voted for Trump. I respect everyone's right to vote for whomever they wish...i hope the Tryguys/wives feel the same, but honestly I feel a little excluded, at times, as a subscriber and fellow voter.
@S1-E2 DAWN ALETHEA LOWE EN What y'all call hate is actually justified anger. His decisions hurt people, cost lives, and terrorize marginalized people. He's a danger to everyone who isn't white, straight, cisgender, and affluent. Pointing that out isn't hateful, it's self-defense.
@@matthewschelle1829 Spend some time thinking about how that sense of exclusion makes you feel, and consider the millions of marginalized people who have felt exactly the same, for their whole lives. Notice how uncomfortable being the minority is, and then apply that empathy to the people that Trump is a danger to.
SAME UGH. I have a bad acne and my relatives just say, "what happened to your face?" my confidence go 📉📉📉📉📉 like i knooooow, i saw my acne before you did and i knooow
My mom only let me wear makeup for special occasions until I was almost 18. I hated it at the time, but I’m so grateful because today I have pretty good skin. I never have suffered with major acne. My acne started when I began wearing makeup. Even now I still don’t wear makeup that often. I only wear makeup when going out or if I go into work later in the day and had time for makeup. The acne I do get now is pretty mild. Less is def more!!!
I can totally relate to the skincare topic. I have PCOS so I have really bad skin (unless I take birth control, my skin would be glowing). My skin has been bad since 9th grade, I believe. It got worse in 11th and 12th grade. To be honest, I never really cared about what other people thought about my skin. I would ignore their comments and suggestions about skin care because I know to myself that I take care of myself very well. So during 11-12th grade, I had classmates tell me to wash my face with this product or use this toner and just give suggestions that I never asked for, and it annoyed the sh*t out of me. There was even one time when they made fun of my acne. We had one classmate who would put a band-aid on her pimples to somehow "heal" them and another classmate commented about how if I did it, it would be the bandages that could cover the whole face. I didn't get sad or mad but I did get annoyed because I have a sickness. It was annoying how ignorant some people can be.
Men could seriously benefit from watching this Pod, nothing but excellent episodes back to back. So many different topics have been covered so far, and it's mesmerizing.
Ariel you are my spirit animal when it comes to showers and baths!! 🙌 I hate taking a shower (which p.s. you don’t need to do everyday unless you sweat like crazy or stink or you work a job like Maggie’s where it’s not even a question that a shower daily is mandatory ...better for your skin not to shower everyday anyway ) and I absolutely loathe baths! I’m on your side girl!!
You guys are part of my self care routine :D Every Monday evening I listen to the podcast while I take a bath and eat chocolate microwave mug cake with vanilla ice cream! Meetings from Germany!
My favourite episode so far 🤩 I laughed out loud with Maggie when she was talking about her experience with acne and her co-worker. I have had things happen similar and the pain at the time is unreal. Love all these chats, this podcast is one of my favourites. Funnily enough I listen to podcasts like this one as self care, just helps my mind slow and having adhd I feel like it’s constantly running quickly so this helps in a positive way, I like making my bed, walking, and sleeping before 11 waking up by 8:30 and taking my medication. These things I’ve just noticed make a difference in my life so I try to make an effort in doing them. Again love the podcast, appreciate the positive energy and laughs it brings :)
THE BEST SELF HELP TIP I HAVE... So I studied musical theatre which is full of a lot of critique and self doubt. We all created positivity books. So whenever we received ‘compliments’ we wrote them in our books. Doesn’t matter how big or small, from you sang that perfectly! I love your scarf! Or even just a well done. Then before auditions or when we were doubting ourselves or feeling low your brain automatically goes to the negatives so we would take out our books and read all the lovely positive affirmations we had received through the year. Helps to lift your mood, clear your mind and remind you that you are doing well 🥰🥰
I NEED MORE OF BECKY TALKING ABOUT KDRAMAS. please i love them so much and its so fun to know that becky watches some too. also, the one she talked about here is called "crash landing on you" and not "into you" if it makes it any better, lmao. but it's so so good, great choice !!
I love the self care of making my bed , I've taken an extra step and air it out for 30 min now . A nice bed is one of the best nice quick things you can do.
I love how both the episode of the You Can Sit With Us and The Try Pod feature their best friends worrying about how much or how little Ned and Ariel bathe
My top self-care activities for high-stress or high-anxiety days (if I can't be with people I care about) is rewatching The Office and Jenna Marbles videos. Nothing better than a good comforting laugh.
“Nobody showers and everyone’s fighting” omggg you should have called it that 😂🤣 Also I am team skip-the-skincare-products, a little bit of water and the *occasional* Johnson and Johnson baby wash, *chef’s kiss* skin like a baby 👼 I feel Ariel on that voluminous hair envy though

@@MelancholyMoondancer Highly trained Emotional Support Canadian. I will wrap you in a fleece blanket on my lap, and feed you poutine and gingerale while singing songs by Canadian artists :)
My biggest self-care routine which also fuels my caffeine addiction is preparing and brewing coffee in a French press with freshly ground coffee beans. I only get like two and a half mugs out of it, but it’s delicious and makes me feel good about my day. It’s an accomplishment and a reward for me after getting out of bed. I live alone and suffer from depression so, getting out of bed or off the couch if I passed out there the night before is worth celebrating to me.
Skincare is a huge self care for me. I struggled for years with bad skin using every product I could find. then one day I found Korean skincare and it changed my skin completely. I have a 8-10 (I exfoliate twice a week and it adds two steps to hit the full ten) step routine that help clam and relax me. No I have clear skin!
12:09 my dad loves that Kdrama, he is so hyped watching every single one that comes out and talks to me about them (I like kpop but I don't really watch movies or series maybe the news but that's it) and I have no idea about what he is talking about so just smile and nod while letting him talk
These little video podcasts that you gals are doing are seriously getting me through lockdown. It's SOOOO refreshing spending an hour to sit, chill and listen to such positive chitchats. This feels like my self care, having a cheeky glass of wine and having some girly talk when I can't see my own girlfriends in person. You're all such gorgeous souls xxx
I am so much like Ariel with self-care. If I am getting ready for bed and I notice that the dishes aren't done or something is messy in the apartment, I have to clean it so that I wake to a clean place in the morning. I also got my boyfriend to start making lists with me whenever we need to go out to get groceries or anything. I feel like I'm listening to myself talk about my self-care routine! I love it!
I bought a gel lamp so I can have my nails gelled during corona-times. So my self care is doing my nails and watching old try guy videos. And in times like these, turning off the news/media is also my self care.
My self care routine(ish) is to either do art or cook. I have always loved crafting but lately I have gotten into painting specifically abstract art. I love that you can just throw paint on a canvas and you never know what you will get out of it. I also love to cook and would love to start a supper club, when I can see more people again. I have also learned how important self care is and if you have to make time for it like you do everything else in life.
As a parent of 3 kids (youngest is 6 months), my self care is making time for my hobbies; writing with my fountain pens, weaving, or just letting my mind wander. I'm a teacher, too, and when I'm very stressed I love buying stationery that I don't really need but want. I like window shopping by myself and having meals alone in restaurants/cafes (don't worry, where I am, this is allowed - we're almost back to a new normal).
I start my mornings with some yoga, and a cup of tea while I read. If it's nice I'll sit out on my deck while I drink my tea and I'll often go for a walk afterwards. I find baths really relaxing. I don't get bored because I always read during them. I find running very meditative as well, especially running in the woods.
"Your self-care cannot be cults!" lmao I love Becky. I'm only halfway through listening but I really needed to hear them talk about self-care. I'm not American and where I am there are very few cases but it's been stressful nonetheless because I live across the globe from my family by myself ... I should do more self-care and less thinking about how to destroy myself ...
ariel: what you never burned photographs of ex's?? that eas the thing to do!! me, thinking back to the time my sister and i burned her abusive ex's belongings and photographs: the thing to do!!
My main thing for self care comes straight from Yoga with Adriene. 1. Cause yoga, the meditation, the exercise, the knowledge that I'm dedicating myself to a practice. And 2. I love yoga with Adriene specifically cause of her coined "Find what feels good." And that philosophy alone helps me so much. If it feels good, do it. And if I doesnt feel good then ditch it. But also find a "comfortable edge" to push yourself but not so much that you're killing yourself in the process.
A show or movie or youtube is a must during a bath! If you have a tablet or a phone stand or a laptop and a table or stool or something to set it on nearby. Something to watch and a snack and a drink! My favorite self care
My knees are now too bad to do my longtime self care routine which was my bubble bath Sunday. I have an iPod with multiple playlists and one just for the Sunday bath. So I had music playing, had candles in the corners of the bathtub and I turn the lights off in the course I used bubble bath. I would put a small towel behind my neck so I could kind of stretch out and lay back and relax and listen to Tunes. If the water of got too cool before I was ready to get out, I would just let out a little water and add some more hot. It was blissful!
I always say that puberty gave me nothing except periods and anxiety, so I never had acne and never washed my face so now at 21 I feel like i have to but when I do a "routine" my face actually breaks out so LESS is way better for me
Ariel, I did the same thing when my kids were little. List the things I did that weren't even on my list, then check them off...with a flourish. 6 kids and 28 years of marriage later for self-care, I finally bought a memory foam mattress, high thread count sheets, high quality pillows, and luxurious towels. We are a one income middle class, frugal family, so this is a big splurge for me.
I used to watch Switched At Birth, where about half of the character are deaf/HOH. I'd forget or get distracted and miss an entire important scene because I wasn't watching the subtitles. WHOOPS.
I think that doing things (tasks, chores, or fun things) with intentionality really helps with general self care. Like, I can take a bath and just watch tick tocks and not feel less rest, than when I clean up clutter in my living room to make it feel homey. The difference being, I was intentionally present and was active in making myself feel better. Yoga, meditation, and my faith have all taught me this. Sometimes it can be difficult to treat yourself, but you can still be active and present in one thing. That act can turn almost any activity into selfcare. :)
Maggie, I totally get it, my skin since the beginning of this year has really screwed with me and I've felt like hiding because every time I look in the mirror I just see red, inflamed cystic acne and it hurts my self-esteem. So I really hate it when others point it out, like, it's not like I don't already know/see it for myself... it just sucks, and thanks for sharing your struggles with acne.
Most days I try to read or write as my self-care, usually getting up early so I can have an hour before work. Today (I have off) included a 20 minute dance break to "Greatest Showman" followed by a bath, wine, and the OG Cheetah Girls movie. Speaking of Cheetah Girls, I feel like the Try Wives could definitely make that their theme music.
Gosh, it was so nice to listen to this and *not* think about the election for a little bit. It really was exactly what I needed today. I've been living alone during the whole pandemic, and listening to you guys has helped fill the void left by not being able to hang out with my own friends. And then, the cherry on top of my 2020, I was recently displaced from my apartment due to a fire, and now I'm temporarily back with my conservative parents at the worst possible moment. Thanks for being a bright spot in this stressful day 🥰
I can so relate to Ariel. I love making my bed, putting my clothes away, organizing my skincare and makeup. It makes me feel put together and clean and structured. Also, window shopping on my phone =P
For frizzy hair, if you want more visible and clean curls, it's all about how you treat your hair longterm. Like with skin, methods can vary with each head of hair, just keep trying! I thought I was a ball of frizz (dirty blonde thin hair). I began moisturizing my hair in my 20'ies after realizing that frizzy/curly hair is dry and needs moisture to come to life. In the shower, I part and lightly comb my hair into the style I want. After parting, I let the water run until the hair has settled. After the shower, I lightly scrunch the hair up against the scalp to remove water, careful not to disturb the hair too much. I started noticing the hair clumping together in ever so slight swirly directions. (These are the beginnings of the curls, don't break them apart!) Let air dry. When it's almost dry, I put in a small amount of anti-frizz hair cream from around ear height to the ends to keep the locks together and avoid frizz. My result was: natural big/loose snakecurls and some waves! It took a long time for me to find the right style of care, I have to do everything with a very light hand, my curls are very weak while they're forming, but it's so worth it. Find a shampoo and conditioner that prevents your frizz but also doesn't weigh your hair down too much. For me, the Frizz Ease line by John Frieda did the trick, along with the Touch-Up Créme, but since then I've tried other shampoos that also work for me! p.s. Hairbrush is a no-no, light combing with fingers is the most I would recommend doing.
I got an every other month package with Ipsy and I prioritized skin care so I get new stuff to try and I rotate the items. So I do a microdermabrasion wash once a week, a regular anti-aging cleanser every night, a vitamin C serum, different eye creams, different moisturizers, and if I leave the house (which is rare) I wear sunscreen. I also do a Lush face mask every other week in the shower when I do a hair mask.
Love the skin care chat. Learning, to know what your skin is going through and how to nurture it back to good health. You ladies have totally got that right. Also as an acne sufferer, I totally understand the awfulness of having something people feel they have the need to comment on. Now working in dermatology I've learnt to be kind to my face. xxx
When Becky talked about kdramas AND crash landing on you!!! 😍😍😍😍 YAASSSS! Recommendations for Becky :) Not exactly a horror but more suspenseful. There's "the bridge curse" on Netflix! It's a mandarin movie. Or thai horror comedy on Netflix "pee mak." My self care tip is definitely organizing or cleaning things and then lounging around to watch movies/youtube/kdramas
Maggie has such beautiful skin, it makes me feel so much better about myself knowing that she’s had acne too. I’m 21 and have had it for years, I’d LOVE to have skin like hers! I appreciate the try wives podcast immensely, only have one friend, and my only girl best friend ditched me at the beginning of the year. Even though they don’t know any of us watching, it feels like one big group of friends. It’s really nice.
My favorite self-care lately has been cooking actually. I’m a college student, and throughout most of college I really haven’t taken the time to think about my food and what I’m putting into my body. I’m a senior now so most of college I would be running around on campus all day and I really didn’t have the time to cook or prepare meals. I’m pre-med and work so I’ve spent a lot of the past three years on campus 12 hours a day and food was just not a priority. With quarantine and online classes I’ve actually been able to cook three meals a day and sleep 8 hours at night. I feel soooo much better. Putting fresh food into my body is renewing seriously, and having fun cooking yummy meals has been the biggest self care these days.
Watching y’all’s podcast is definitely part of my personal self care routine. I also became a yoga teacher a few months ago (I’m teaching online classes) and seeing my students after class happier and feel genuinely better is my self care too. I just like knowing I can help people feel and be their best. 🧘🏻♀️😊

I’m so sorry you are scared to go to school over adults making unsafe choices.
@@aurxse I’m trying!
@@cassiforest9191 It’s not your fault! But thank you. Trump said he loves Texans and supported the violence of it a few days ago. My entire family are not going to school because of it so we are doing it from home.
@@gracielynn4876 he does seem to support violence as long as it isn't BLM related. 🤬 I'm not responsible but as an adult it makes my heart sad that other adults are being unsafe.
The Craft was to me what Practical Magic was to Ariel. It sent me wandering around our local alternative bookstore browsing spell books, crystals and essential oils. The memories 👻😊
the craft just made me realize i’m a lesbian
When Maggie shared the anecdote about someone asking her if she washed her face :^) Hits hard lmao! My skin was (still is) bad, but generally, people usually know better than to comment on it. Hair, on the other hand...! Shoutout to all the men who commented on my hair frizzing up and asking if I combed it when it's literally Just My Hair Texture!
At the beginning of the video I hadn't voted and then I ended up going out and voting and came home and finished the video lol love yall
I’m just curious, no shame or anything, but we’re you planning on voting or did the video actually convince you to go vote?
@@OlgaWB I was already on the way to voting lol
@@eveisawesom3803 For a second, I was kind of excited that maybe You Can Sit With Us had convinced someone to go vote.
Ariel is my spirit animal, organising and checking things off the list 😭❤️
Before Maggie started talking about her skincare she swears by, I was noticing her beautiful glowy skin!
Hooray for LISTS, Ariel!!! This is such an easy organizational tool; as a mom of 3 and a full=time teacher, this kept me on top of my life most all the time!!
Hey everyone, please make sure to get out and vote and make your voice heard!! 🇺🇸♥️ #BidenHarrris2020
I was so excited that you guys posted a video today. I NEEDED a distraction from the anxiety of Election day. (I already voted)
I amanxious and I live on the other side of the world in Germany. How do yall cope??
My mom only let me wear makeup for special occasions until I was almost 18. I hated it at the time, but I’m so grateful because today I have pretty good skin. I never have suffered with major acne. My acne started when I began wearing makeup. Even now I still don’t wear makeup that often. I only wear makeup when going out or if I go into work later in the day and had time for makeup. The acne I do get now is pretty mild. Less is def more!!!

Actually, my self care is watching either this podcast or the tripod while eating pizza bites every lunch 😂
Ariel: *Saying her cleaning tasks are her selfcare*
Me: *thinking to myself* Am I Ariel? Could I be a good interior designer?! 🤔
This podcast genuinely soothes my soul. Also, shouts out to Becky for including non-binary folx felt very represented by the skincare goddess herself!
Again love the podcast, appreciate the positive energy and laughs it brings :)
we need a weekly Becky's Cosmetic Corner! Chatting about all things makeup, skincare, product reviews, etc.
“Nobody showers and everyone’s fighting” omggg you should have called it that 😂🤣
Also I am team skip-the-skincare-products, a little bit of water and the *occasional* Johnson and Johnson baby wash, *chef’s kiss* skin like a baby 👼
I feel Ariel on that voluminous hair envy though
omg Becky quoting legally blonde made my day

I look forward to watching this podcast and yall just feel like friends
I'm watching this podcast, on my couch, in my jammies, on my week off...but...I'm Canadian, so I can't vote. But....I gotta go, with Joe! Does that count?
You can be an emotional support Canadian. 😊 Some of us will probably need it.
I live alone and suffer from depression so, getting out of bed or off the couch if I passed out there the night before is worth celebrating to me.
can we plx take a second to appreciate how they are not talking over each other and just giving everyone a chance to talk and being patient
You're all such gorgeous souls xxx
imagine the guy’s reaction to finding out yet another episode turned into a bath discussion
I love your podcast!! It’s so positive and whenever there’s a new one up my mood lights up thx 🧡🧡
We've already been blessed with 18 episodes?! Time flies
Writing things you’re thankful everyday for can reprogram your brain to look for the good. It’s so beneficial.
Ariel you are not alone! Clean and tidy house is my self love language too. Especially with kids!!
Ariel is my spirit animal- I also need the bed made and write lists, even if I've already done the things on the list ❤️
Exactly!!!! "You look tired or sick" is something that made me so insecure when I didn't wear makeup 😑 girls hating on girls
Or thai horror comedy on Netflix "pee mak."
My self care tip is definitely organizing or cleaning things and then lounging around to watch movies/youtube/kdramas
I LOVE that Becky watches kdramas! They are so good and more people in the US need to watch them. Also crash landing is such a good drama
what?!?! maggie's skin always looks so flawless!
Definitely not too late for Ariel to try bullet journaling. If you had a chance pls try it, it really is effective and neat.
I just love these women! I literally NEVER heard adult women talking on how to take care of you and to worry about yourself. That is so important.
I just wanna say again, like on many other eps of YCSWU/TryPod. . . .
I LOVE THAT GREEN PEAR SHAPED LAMP
