Elephant is a cultural symbol but I'm not sure why they are putting coins there. Either it has some significance specific to BAP followers or someone left coin there for random reason and others followed suit thinking they should.
I think the second one is true , we have some boxes to donate, may be some left some money and others followed, even tossing coins in fountain is started by Foreign ppl and others just followed, because you don't see ppl throwing coins in Fountains or near a statue in India, we used to throw coins in rivers because those coins were made of Copper which is good to health but today's coins are made up of Stainless steel which is pretty useless to thrown in water.
@@naninani1549 Yeah. I think those decorative elephants represent the temple elephants in symbolic manner and that's all. But I don't know the BAP group in finer details so I left the caveat.
