look at roar, the reaction from the crowd, would rarely see that in the sanitised new Wembley

I was a big Man Utd supporter back then, and I have not seen this for 30 years!!! - Looking back now at that decision for the 2nd penalty, I think you might have a point. The offence appears to start OUTSIDE the box, so that being the case and assuming it was a foul, then it should only have been a free-kick anyway. David Platt did not get a penalty against Holland (when Koeman fouled him in 1, crucial 1993 WCQ) because the offence began outside the box, although it was much tighter than the foul above, as Andrei was clearly outside the box.

Notice how hardly any of the passes are backwards. They launch it forward as quickly as they can, and the goalkeepers hardly touch the ball unless they're called into action

Keeping possesion is drummed into players these days. Back then players were allowed to take chances more and would make risky passes. Players are more like robots now coached to wait for the right opening to play a risky pass or long ball.

      @@johnmccaughey2722more to continental football.
British football do have its own style of possession football played by Liverpool MU West Ham and some others but more forward passes as you mention.
The recent FA Cup Final is a boring one.

The sad thing is that the FA Cup USED to be a special event. All day coverage of it. A big deal and now it's overshadowed by the Champions League Finals and this is just a back drop.

I can't believe this was 30 years ago!!!! Looking back now, the 2nd penalty should not have been awarded. The so called foul clearly started outside of the area, so it was a free-kick for Man Utd at best.
