Ahh Mrs. Moody.. My favorite serial hater.. I'm not sure where you are getting your data about my channel, but according to my TH-cam Analytics, overall views are up, higher than they have ever been, and my subscriber count just crossed 100,000, so I think I will keep my content just the way it is..
I will also note that even though you have posted dozens of your stupid comments on my videos saying pretty much the same thing over the last 6 months or so, never once, not one time, have you actually specified what this "wrong" stuff is...
And oh, one other thing - I have grown weary from deleting your lametard comments, so I wanted you to know that this is the last comment from you that anyone will ever see on my channel, as you are no longer welcome here. In other-words, you are now banned from leaving any comments on my channel... Thanks for the memories!

I tuned into my first GMRS conversation last night, and every one of the participants was a Sad Ham. Most of them only keep their Ham license because of how much they put into getting them....thank you for helping me choose to go with a GMRS license

Someone asked me why I chose a GMRS vs a 2 meter band radio. I told him my goal is to have a more widely used communications systems, like FRS, CB, GMRS, because 2 meter bands are not useful for local coordination because almost no one has a license to use all the frequencies., and frankly, I don't want to be identified as a "Radio Elitist". They seem to believe everyone should get their armature extra before doing anything else. I don't know any of them who don't act like childish snobs.

Hello to you, sad ham - from a year into the future just to tell you that you’re still wrong.
Btw my btech gmrs v2 is still my favorite. No point in a ham license, I can get ham without one at the supermarket.
Second btw: people like you are exactly why I have no interest in the ham community lol fr y’all are so uptight, lonely, and angry that it immediately turned me off to it. But the gmrs dudes I know are so chill and kind, the choice was always simple.

We recently found out about your channel thanks to a flood of viewers you sent our way this weekend… 😮
But we do want to clarify a few points on the GMRS-V2 - the GMRS-V2 is not manufactured by Baofeng nor does it have any relation to Baofeng (besides molds) The only products that we sell that are manufactured by Baofeng will show Baofeng on their badging.
While we had some exclusive products with Baofeng (such as the UV-82C, UV-82HP, BF-F8HP), some of our exclusive firmware changes started being “borrowed” which halted further cooperation
We now use an independent facility to manufacture the GMRS-V2 and other similar BTECH radios, the PCB from start to finish was designed for GMRS and not simply a “re-tuned” amateur radio like many of our peers have done with their “GMRS” radios. For a direct conversion chipset it should outperform any other model in its price range and receive clarity closer to a superheterodyne receiver due to the focused PCB design
Controlling our supply chain has also helped avoided using cheaper chipsets or removing features (FM radio) seen in similar radios
Two notes on the review: you missed one of our favorite features which was the new menu to quickly add any GMRS channel without needing to type any frequency in and we have started a program for the early GMRS-V2 buyers to make things right anyone that did not like their radio: baofengtech.com/gmrs-v2-wideband-narrowband-fix/
Thanks for your reviews and feedback! ~ BTECH Radios

After purchasing and enjoying a pair of B-Tech MURS-V2 radios I decided to get the GMRS-V2 as well. The one that you had problems with. Fortunately, my radio wasn't screwed up like the one you had. You might know what the guy who has a channel like yours would get the lemon. I like these radios almost as much as my collection of Wouxun radios. In some odd ways, they're better, even though they are SOC radios. 🤷

Seems to be a GMRS only version of the Boo-Fwang UV-82. If so, then Randy's review was spot on. I have 3 of the UV-82HP's(8 watt version) and have loved them for several years. Even got my wife a red one (so I could find it easily when she drops it in the woods when hiking or hunting) and even she likes it more than the Midland bubble pack radio she was using. The only difference (other than the obvious that the Boo-Fwang is a "ham") between the GMRS V2 that Randy reviewed and my UV-82HP, is that mine came with 2800 mAH batteries. Maybe because I have the HP version instead of the base model. Thanks for another great vid Randy.

Looking to get my first GMRS radio. I was looking at the BAOFENG UV-9G and the BTech GMRS-V2. I like that the UV-9G has a much better waterproof rating, but the BTech GMRS-V2 can accept extended batteries. I am conflicted. Which one would you recommend for a beginner?

    • @SergeantExtreme
      @SergeantExtreme 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If you're a absolute beginner who doesn't need fancy features such as dual PTT (the "two channel monitoring" that was mentioned in this video; basically, using two channels at the same time), then the UV-9G will more than suffice for your beginner needs.
However, if you have a little more money to spend; and would like some of the newer fancier features, then shoot for the GMRS-V2. In conclusion, the UV-9G is a very solid choice that is sensibly priced as an entry level radio to the world of GMRS.

How can you tell what the frequencies are after doing the factory reset??? To make sure the correct frequencies are set for each channel. AND, for some reason I can not change the channels 1-7 from narrow to wide. I go through the steps, change it from N to W, it looks like it took until I go to another channel and come back only to see the N is back on…. Frustrated! I sent that to BTECH and they responded but didn’t address this specific issue. Any ideas??? I’m heading out of town tomorrow and planned on using these!

I think its a firmware problem. I believe earlier gmrs radios had a FCC Channel 1 thru 7 narrow band limitation. Looks like some, many or all V2's have a program issue that needs (will require) an firmware update. I hope I'm wrong but when a manufacturer blows-off a direct question/problem, it's always a bad sign.

Randy, I just bought this radio. I've resolved all the issues you mentioned in your video, with the exception of the needed change from narrowband to wideband on channels 1 through 7. Every time I attempt to make this change, the radio reverts to "Narrow". I contacted Btech support and the nice rep said that the FCC requires 1 through 7 to be narrow. I responded with a copy of the pertinent FCC regs. to refute that. The nice rep then said that they would research and consider a firmware update to resolve. With all that said, could you tell me how you were able to overcome this issue via the keyboard? Thanks!

I had the same problem. I contacted BTECH support, and was told that they are working on a firmware update that will fix this issue. In the meantime, I tried using the CPS software for this radio (found on the BTECH support site), and was able to change channels 1-7 to wideband - and they stayed that way upon turning the radio off and on. This should also work using CHIRP, although I have not tested it.

do the receive channels include ATC, Ham?
I am just getting into GMRS and want to get my toes wet listing to HAM because there is only one GMRS repeater in my area.
I have GXT1000G (no repeaters) is the BTECH GMRS-V2 the 'cheapest' Radio that can connect to repeaters?
Midland doe not seem to have a handheld that can connect to repeaters.

So no USB-C charging? Lame. In reality, no one really cares about kerchunking the repeater except for sad hams. Everyone else just asks to not cause interference when you do it or don't do it in rapid succession. Also, "Let's go Brandon, I agree!"

GMRS operates in the UHF band, so line of sight is the most important factor for fars.

Good video. I just picked up this radio and love it so far. Though I have a quick question because I can't seem to get a solid answer on this.
Is using a radio amplifier, like the BTech Amp U-25 on this handheld(or any other handhelds) legal? This amp is tuned for GMRS and I'm a licensed user. Thank you!

    • @TheNotaRubicon
      @TheNotaRubicon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

As long as the output does not exceed 50W, AFAIK, it is perfectly within the FCC rules to use that amp with this radio.

@@TheNotaRubicon just ordered this based off of your review! A friend and myself are just now getting into the hobby (received our licenses today). Excited to see how many fars ours can talk with one another living in a relatively “flat” part of Arkansas with trees around but not many buildings. Would the radio booster previously mentioned make a difference if the antenna was on top of our trucks with trees in the area? Primarily plan on using these in the woods while hunting due to zero cell coverage.

    Hello Sir,
My name is Mike Gonyaw. I have a question for you if you have the time. I am anAdventure motorcycle ride and am looking for a set of radios ideal for the tsk of talking between two bike while they are engines on and moving. The radio requirment I would like to have are water proof enough, blue tooth or beable tobe made blue tooth with a plug in add on, GMRS would be great for distance, C chargeing capable, FM, NOA, FRS capable, removable battery. The reaso for blue tooth being such a big deal is my riding buddy and I already have helmet mou ted lue tooth communiatore. His is Cardo and mine is Sena. They do not talk to each other and even if they did topagraphy, distance and veg cover limit there effectiveness. I have been looking at the Btech UV-9G ( dont know about bluetooth plug in), Btech gmrs-v2 5w, Btech Pro, and finally the OxBow Renage (not GMRS). If you have another suggestion I would love to hear it. Thank you vert much for your time!!!! I appreciate all your videos.

@@TheNotaRubicon Ok that makes sense but what does it mean (range) and why does it show up on the screen but theres no info on it in said manual. I would think that if its in the range said manual says thats allowed you should be able to enter it into he menu by using i believe its menu 2-7 which would enter it into the menu by listen only. any ways i just want to know what range is there for because you and enter numbers into the radio when it pops up but again for what and why. Maybe some secret menu will pop up to talk to the greater power in space or the men in black. I just thought that a self proclaimed expert would have seen this secret feature or maybe could steer me to a higher power that would know.

My question is I picked up 2 of these V2 radios. On both of them I cannot configure (via the radio keypad) channels 1 through 7 as wide band after saving. (Factory default is narrow band.)
No problem changing the band width (wide or narrow) on the upper grms channels 15 thru 22 with a "save" afterwards. Any ideas why the wide band selection with a "save" won't stick on channels 1 thru 7?? I did try a "reset all" then tried again to change and save 1 thru 7 as wide band but 1 thru 7 revert right back to narrow band after an "exit." - HELP!
