On that "lapida" with the name Pipong (Agustin Antonio) interred 1924.
Let me just share something. If Pipong was 7 when he passed away, it means his parents would have been born before American period and grew up in still colonial Spanish traditions.
For that generation, children who died in infancy or before adolescence would have their "lapida" bearing their pet names. Not the full legal name as we do it today.
I share this not because I am a historian and did research on this but from what I knew from stories shared by my grandfather who died in 2013 at the age of 88. His three elder siblings, all girls were interred in the family plot in this cementerio- La Loma. On the lapida were written just the pet names and birth year and year they died. They were lola Lulu, Marianing and Pilar. My Lolo was the youngest and was born 1925 and her elder siblings all died before he was born and none reached their 12th birthday, one died at 4 years old. A neighboring plot would have a marker with just the name Titang.
My lolo said the lapida should not be an identification card.
It does not need to have the full legal name and full details of the dates of birth and death.
It is in memory of a child so dearly loved.
Hence, the marker carries the pet name. A memoriam.
Do we call our child (I am a parent) by their full name? No. We don't even call them by their registered first names. We have pet names for each of our children. For some families in those times, that pet name is what was carved on the lapida.
There is a section in La Loma cemetery, along side the wall separating it from North Cemetery, where one can find old graves with some lapida having just pet names. Looking at the dates, these were early 1900's.
But common practices do not remain common and change over time. Now, we place full legal names on the lapida, even if it was a child who was interred.

The dedication for Pipong was so moving. Even if it was written almost 100 years ago, the pain of the loss of a beloved child resonates through time. From its title "Libingan ng mga alala", I think this documentary also wants us not to forget what happened to the victims of EJK ..
