I worked for Sylvia Robinson at Sugarhill Records as a producer/engineer for almost 2 years. Ms.Rob was the real deal. What a multi talented woman! Rumors say that the character Cookie from the TV show Empire was derived from Sylvia Robinson. Ms. Rob was also a savvy business woman, but she also was compassionate. I helped her pick up Toys and gifts that she bought for kids in Englewood N.J. and the Bahamas. She did this every Christmas. God bless her soul. Gone but never forgotten and forever loved.

I never knew Ms. Silvia Robinson who help launch Sugarhill was the singer of one of my favorite romantic songs of my adolescent years in the 70s.

She wasn't a savvy business woman
she was a blood-clat thief who ripped off
young Blacx rappers with bad contracts
that affects them right up to this day.😠

Thank God you said that! I had 45 records of Pillow Talk and Sweet Stuff and those two songs were suggestive for their time, and radio jocks had to fade out the orgasmic sounds from both records. It wasn't until 1976 Donna Summer came along with the 10 minute long Love To Love You Baby adding her moans and groans thru the entire record, and once again radio jocks had to fade out the suggestive parts. But those songs were tame compared to the overtly sexual lyrics of so-called "love songs" now where u hear the f bomb , and d*** and p***y all thru the songs. Now, I never heard Sade do any suggestive sounds in any of her records and I had all of her albums. She has a naturally husky voice which could be mistaken for suggestive. The only two that did it as u said, was Sylvia Robinson and the Donna Summer.

Nossa! Qto tempo não ouvia essa música. Simplesmente maravilhosa! Esse som era de.mais! Eu era bem novinha, Entrando na adolescente. Tinha vergonha de ouvir alto e meu pai brigar comigo. Hj com outros cantando, mas jamais esquecida.

Thank you... Never seen this live, honestly stumbled across this song about 6yrs ago. Instantly became one of my favorite old-school R&B songs. I go deep on that old-school though, dont get it twisted 😎

I wonder if those people in the audience knew they were watching a legend? RIP Sylvia.

It was the one song that my dad said that if he buys it for me that my mom will yell at him. LOL
I never forgot this. I looked at my dad and he pointed to me my very first album which he knew and remembered that I absolutely loved: Salsoul Orchestra's Magic Journey album and one other ... by Casablanca Records Cerrone's Supernature. Later in '74 or '75, I saved my allowances and got my Donna Summer's Love to Love You Baby album.
    ❤️❤️❤️💃🕺🔥❤️❤️❤️

beautiful woman, beautiful song..I'm 63 and I heard it a long time ago..listening to the radio today, the theme was to suggest romantic, love songs
I immediately remembered Sylvia and called and suggested pillow talk...and what do you think?
    it was a hit!!
By the way, the other track on the album, "my thing" is also very good!
always in our memories, beautiful woman..
    Vaya con dios 😢

I used to get so embarrassed when, as a 15 year old kid, the song would come on the radio while me and my mom where riding the car . I was looking for place to hide 😂

Brings me back to the days of wabc radio, and hearing Ron Lundy introduce this song. I am a true romantic and I would definitely play this for a woman while having a candle light dinner.
