- I had fun in the last video taking those close ups of the binghamite, so I played around with some macro photography with some of my other polished rocks.

Question: How can I spot banded chert on a beach full of Petoskey Stones and puddingstones?
I had a lot of fun taking the photos. I might have to get a dedicated macro lens so I can get even more detail.
Answer: you bring Thomas along with you, he was spotting a lot it in your previous video together.
@@CityRockhounding Yes, I know. The problem is, he's not willing to drive eleven hours to come along with me every time. Besides, he's not very good at sharing what he finds.

Minimalistic and very effective setup. Are you setting up exposure times or shudder variance? What piece of equipment are you looking to make or purchase next to upgrade your process and why that one? The whole 2 minute section is marvelous. Easily frame worthy. I could go on for days staring into these, thanks for bringing their beauty to us!
I usually set the aperture for a deeper depth of field and let the camera decide what shutter speed to use. Some rocks might need some adjustment if they’re too light or too dark.
Amazing all the cool formations you find in the rocks when you look really close. Another good one, keep the goodness coming. I heard the camera click 3 times. Are you stacking the photos? Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
I don’t stack them, but I have the camera set up to take 3 exposures in case there’s any movement or something weird. I might have to try stacking photos in the future though.

Awesome macrophotography! I hope you do more, especially the maryellen jasper! My question is: do you still get nervous when you film a video? You seem to have become more at ease over time, and I hope that means that it's just all fun times for you now! Thanks for sharing!
I will do more. I might have to actually invest in a true macro lens for my camera. I really love the MEJ too!

I use an 18-55mm lens. It’s not the best for macro shots, but it’s got the closest focus range.
