Please correct the information on the pigment used for the robe of the Madonna. It was not lapis lazuli but azurite, which led to the discoloration-- dark appearance.
Jesus' little fingers reminded me of Augustus of Primaporta - a simple gesture, but meaningful. The positioning of Mary's fingers seem a lot more natural in this one. I love the all-female, uniquely clad angel team too. Still very different to mine, but lovely.
Incredible how the integrity of such painted colour can sustain itself over such durations. Beautiful piece.
