MMD is a pretty old piece of software, pretty much entirely for animating. It has Bullet Physics, and I think the ability to motion capture using an Xbox Kinect. It hasn't been officially supported since like 2009, and if I remember, it was made by one guy. The community is still pretty active last I checked, I believe it has the ability to write add-ons and extend functionality somewhat, and it has a generally identifiable visual style. And for those who don't know who Hatsune Miku is, its the name of the character that represents a voice synthesis program called Vocaloid, or rather one of the voicebanks available for the program. Its a sample based engine that strings together a list of recorded phonemes in a language (like Japanese) and outputs a comprehensible word or phrase in a singing voice for making music. People used to use MMD to make music videos to go along with songs featuring Vocaloid.
Was hoping to try this out until i noticed the 'js' at the end. What a shame some people build such cool stuff but lock that behind the crappiest language to have ever existed.
@@NeoMaxim because in js [] == 0 == {} + [] = 0 == true - true == false. Variables are global by default. No strong typing. No one knows how 'this' keyword' works. The list goes on and on. You need a billion different libraries + typescript to make it barely usable.
You are a truly unique channel. You always have something new to show us from the games industry every day, which is really really really enlightening and entertaining for us! Keep up the good work!
Don't mind me just joining the culture shock of you never having heard of MMD. Support for MMD animations is pretty common in game modding scenes and you can find plugins for blender and whatnot
I was wondering if this guy knew what he was talking about or if it was a joke. But then when he said he didn't know what mmd was so he will do a video covering it I knew it was all a joke. Interesting channel very niche.
@@LetrixAR You don't really know its an April Fools video until you watch the video. For instance, yesterday I watched a video about Epic completely changing Unreal Engine and I clicked on it to see what it was about. I got about 3 minutes in before I realized I just had my time wasted.
you never head of miku miku dance? you can literally google any character from any anime followed by MMD and find the 3D model of the character for it! ok, i'm exaggerating but you get the point. Miku Miku Dance started as an tool to make it easier to make vocaloid clips (mostly dance clips but can be used for other stuff) due to the big popularity of vocaloid, since then tons of people made 3D models, shaders, and other stuff for it, not just characters but also objects for then to hold and use, there are millions of MMD videos on youtube and niconico, wel.. there were nowadays its not as popular it used to be in the golden era of vocaloid, but still its one of the biggest libraries of content out there with many of then being free, but its also decentralized, there isnt an "store" to find stuff afaik , and even if there is, most of the content is spread across the web instead of centralized in a single place afaik. (i dont know all the details since i dont know japanese)
Well, it depends on the platforms you want to publish, for WebGL exports, native engines are much more and less efficient slower than web based engines, especially for lower end devices like mobile or tablets.

I think it's funny because if any of us have seen this on April 1st we would have thought it was a loving joke by the Babylon 5 fandom

What happened to Babylon 1-6 engines? I was hoping to use at the very least Babylon 5 engine.
Yeah! I was told that Babylon 5 would be our best, last hope for games. Why did it need to get replaced?
The year is 2024
the name of the engine Babylon 7.
I hear babylon 4 got sent to the future
That's the thing about all web-based stuff... Anything slightly older probably won't run properly on current version of web browser.

My friend please look up Babylon 5. You will thank me later.
Yes, this framework definitely has my interest! My interest started from the Max2glTF exporter and has grown from there! 👏👏👏
JavaScript, javascript everywhere
It wont die.

@@askeladden450 why is js crappy? I am ignorant as to why

JS + Tauri ( Rust ) is deadly combo

April fools day was fun before the Internet.

Little does Mikehwrwatgamefromscratch know, Babylon 7 is actually an April Fools joke and doesnt actually yet exist.
8:52 BabylonJS 7 was released on Thursday, March 28th.
3D engine, not game engine

They're trying to compete PCG
But general improvement must be implemented for the engine weather they're good with PCG
This looks better than three.js
Awesome
I don't know... are web games still a thing in these days?? 🤔🤔🤔
Agree on you with "April Fools Day". All jokes are always bad there.
I really wish youtubers would stop. It's never funny and has gotten pretty annoying.
@n00bc0de7 annoying? Why don't just skip then?

any native engine is better than web
