I have the XS500B. Once the electrical problems are forted this is a reliable bike with reasonable performance. Mine will happily indicate 100 Mph given a bit of space. It does incidentally out accelerate Kawasaki's KH400 2 stroke. So not that slow. The cooling issues were sorted in the later XS models by fitting a duct onto the cylinder head.
The XS series as shown here were shockers, as was the TX500. I must disagree when it comes to the RD250, they were a quick machine that handled very nicely, and with a bit of suspension upgrading, they made a great machine for up and coming C Grade road racers,

Totally agree. No idea where they got this info from.
About RD 350., what you said about the back suspension is right. Fish tail. I had a an accident and lucky I was OK. Stiff rear suspension also.
