Brother, I will tell you why I am impressed. Bloody no irritating jazz, branding and show offs. No begging for subscriptions and likes. Pure knowledge sharing. Best part, you used right pace, simple instructions and to the point. Awesome.

Guys if you are facing duplicate event issue at the end don't worry just go to your default calendar view edit it and in the filter section there set category equal blank.

The Instruction was helpful. Got the duplicates as well. Looked up problem. Need to filter the main view not to contain any of the categories --Use 'is not equal' with And.

Followed your instructions, I got dup records showing. one for the filter setup with the customized color; the other is the default, or in in your case "Color Calendar". Any advice on how to resolve it?

Filter the main view to not contain the categories you are showing.

When I created my calendar entries I specified my own values for the categories, e.g. Development (rather than, say, Work Hours). However, when following along with your tutorial, Development is not available as a selection within "Category" when I try to create the view. Is this a Sharepoint limitation, or is there something else I need to do, please? Many thanks in advance.

it should be there would recommend you to go to your calendar then list setting then create view select calendar type for view it will be there...you might be entering inside a view that might cause problem...please check your url while creating view.
