  • James Harris played Quarterback for the Bills, Rams, and Chargers between 1969 and 1979
During his NFL career, Harris threw for 8,136 yards and tossed 45 touchdowns
Fun Fact: James Harris was the first permanent black QB in NFL history. He faced much hatred, but paved the way for guys like Doug Williams, who himself helped clear the path for QBs like Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson

James Harris will forever be A Part of Los Angeles Rams History! So glad that he stepped up for the Rams in 1974 after John Hadl was traded to Green Bay.

Harris was a decent qb for a couple of teams. He was 11-2 one year for the Rams. No clips of him with the Chargers?

I had the pleasure of meeting him and his collage coach the late great Eddie Robertson listening to his story about how he recruited James Harris when he went to his home talked to his mom he said she made him promise her that he would make sure he went to church every Sunday
And that's the only way that James Harris Mom would let him go.....

Buffalo treated him like crap when he arrived to the team he was forced to sleep at the YMCA instead of a hotel like the other players.

That was the impact of racism during the 70's coming from the 60's chaos environment.
Today's Moorish ( Black ) Quarterbacks should be thankful for this Great Man.
He paved the way as a pioneering trailblazer.

He would be in the HOF if it hadn't been for the institutional racism in the NFL. He had all the tools.
