The Latest in 2009 was Cheap Trick's last recording as "the original Cheap Trick," the last to feature Bun E. Carlos on drums. In a Beatles metaphor: SMILE is CT's "The End" and THE LATEST is their "Abbey Road." I experienced CT perform Sgt. Pepper in Las Vegas in 2009. Between songs, Rick Nielsen stepped up to the mike and said, "WE ARE THE ORIGINAL CHEAP TRICK." The crowd roared. He added, "ACCEPT NO IMMITATIONS!" I'm glad CT continued with Daxx, and The Latest is bitter sweet... as the original band's goodbye. A fitting opus to complete an amazing chapter in my life.

What an amazing voice Robin has! This song will always be so special to me! I sat front row center at their concert in Vegas on September 10 and when Robin got to the part, "When I see you smile my love" he leaned down and sang it right to me! OMG!!

If you want to hit their catalogue just a heads up they are a very diverse band...they can go from the band that influenced Nirvana to stuff like this...it's all good and all worth discovering. ..OTH must rock if they use them

@alcest35 I saw Cheap Trick in 2009 on their tour with Poison and Def Leppard. "The Latest" had not yet been released. They sold it as a show special for $5.00!!!!!! I was enchanted all the way home -- it has become one of my favorite albums!! Robin has the voice of an angel!!! Their show was really awesome. My only disappointment was that they didn't play "The Flame" -- one of my all time faves!!!!

@3124481731 I've just been listening to the Latest the for the first time the last couple of weeks and I cannot stop marvelling this album. It has such a continuity to it and I say it's one of their best- it ranks right up there with their 70's output.
