Yeah, they had softer songs on their older albums but they were far better and had a unique and distinct sound that separates them from this song. I personally think this new song sounds kinda generic both instrumentally and lyrically. The repetition in the lyrics really ruins the song for me as it's done wayyy too much and kinda gets annoying. Sam's vocals are nice but I think on their older songs the cleans sounded more full and passionate like on Behind The Throne, Unbeliever, and Hollow Crown.
Epic is the perfect word for it. It sounds like it should be in a soundtrack from a movie. I love his voice and the "bye" on the goodbye was a sick note. I dig them.

I echo a lot of Metalbirb’s sentiments the new Architects sound. It’s fresh and different for them and it’s just really good. This song is one of the best songs they’ve ever written. Truly a masterpiece

@@p1motorcarsltd I don't see how people call this Architects progressing their sound when they have had softer songs previously and were done wayyy better than this new song. The repetitiveness of the lyrics and the vocals being a little low in the mix completely kills it for me. It sounds almost pop radio worthy with the lacking uniqueness that Architects always had in their music. Hollow Crown and Daybreaker had amazing cleans by Sam on them and it worked well with the light and heavy, here it just sounds bland and uninspiring.
I'm a fan of the track, as Adam mentioned, it's more digestible. For a guy like me who has a desk job, I can't listen to the slappers all day long or I wouldn't get any work done beyond trying to make my neck look like Jason Newstead's or Corey Taylor's. I need good tracks like this that can play in the background that allow me to focus on my work, but add some ambiance to help me forget we're all in isolation for the last year. I listen to more tracks like than the blegh's because of that. Now, when I actually want to listen to the track and get into it, then this wouldn't be my first choice.
Architects has a lot of songs like that, Hollow Crown, Behind the Throne, Unbeliever, Truth Be Told, etc. Imo it's done way better on those songs than the newer ones.

Heard the album and all I can say is it completely lacks any intersting guitar stuff, had really high hopes and tried to like it, but this album is a hard pass for me. It doesnt feel like Architects to me.
That orchestra sounds really makes this track stand out for me. It flows perfectly.
