Most definitely yes on the salt! I was born and raised in Illinois, but my dad's side is from Kentucky. He most always put salt on his watermelon. I do to thus day.
i tend to just smack/hit my watermelon when i'm at the grocery store to see if it'll be sweet or not. i grew up eating watermelon with salt as well! it's a pretty great combination.

Salt sometimes but it ia personal preference..
