What type of color do you use to paint the mountains and so, is it gel painting? What is the name of the brand? And also how many layers does the cake have and the pan you used to bake the cake? Could this cake be painted the day before to eat and be refrigerated? Thank you and keep up the good work, they look absolutely amazing!!
I used americolor get for this I believe. Three layer cake. You could do it the day before and refrigerate it but you have to box the cake and then completely wrap the box in plastic wrap, then when you take it out of the fridge, you can leave it boxed up to come to room temp.
Thank you! I haven’t had a problem when I box a the cakes and double wrap the box in plastic wrap. Also with airbrushed color, the layer of paint is very thin and tends not dry fast and not run. And when painting straight on a cake with gel color, some brands run mor than others. Americolor gel tends to bleed less than Chefmaster for instance. But I would recommend doing experiments.
Brand new to airbrushing here! Does the box pickup most of your overspray, or do you find color outside the box in places still? And what psi do you recommend for spraying? Also, gorgeous work!!
The box catches most of it for me. Also you can put a towel down on your work surface in front of the box. I’m not sure about the psi. Thank you so much!
Ok quick Question.... Did you let the cake come to room temp before starting this? As a chilled cake would have condensation forming. And is this on Buttercream or fondant covered cake? I don't know if my phone is jacked up or if you just not that loud lol but I cant barely hear you. So sorry for all the questions
It’s on fondant. The cakes are chilled before I cover them in fondant, then I just paint on them after that. I do t put the fondanted cake in the fridge before painting
@@juliebode3865 i actually did some paint work on buttercream, after this. It's similar. But with this technique, it's based off being able to wipe away the blue, revealing the white. So if you do the painting on buttercream, I don't think it will work the same. Thinking just paint like normal
The outside of this is fondant. But when I cover cakes in fondant there is usually Swiss meringue buttercream underneath. Sometimes I do use ganache underneath.
Hi we use the same airbrush. A couple of suggestions. Dont spray too much and saturate (wet) the cake, the drips will run and ruin your artwork!. Let cake dry first in between coats. Also make sure color has more vodka, otherwise it clogs the tip and will start to splatter and ruin the paint job. Airbrush colors must be quite diluted or the colors, whether art ink or food colors WILL CLOG the needle. Also when finished, tip out any color left in container (we tip it in a small bottle for future use) unscrew fluid container, hold pen under running tap water where you unscrewed container. While water is running into that hole, turn on machine, pull lever back. The water and ink will spray out nozzle. You keep doing that till all ink gone only clear water spays out. Once its clear keep it going till No water or mist cones out so make sure its not full of water. If you dont any color left WILL CLOG your needle (or if you are finished could cause rust inside) and its a pain to get totally cleaned and working again. (If you are half way through decorating, you can lose hours trying to fix pen-we learnt the hard way). So dont clean with vodka. Its a waste and doesnt totally clean pen. Also NEVER use airbrush while its still plugged in and charging it will ruin the battery. Hope this is of some help. Happy cake making. Ps. Cover turntable/cake board with glad wrap so it doesnt get covered with color.
Go to 15:13 look at your color tray. The bottom dark color. Its a CHICKEN!!!! then you dip your brush in the chickens tail feathers HAHA. We are chicken lovers so we see chickens everywhere! 🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓

Did you allow your blue back ground to dry before creating the mountains?
It's so beautiful 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much! This one was a lot of fun!
This is incredible!
Thank you so much!
Is your cake in room temperature before painting it with brush?
This is am amazing tutorial. Are the food colors non airbrush colors? If so, the machine has no issue if they are not airbrush food coloring?
Very well done
Aw thanks so much!! I appreciate it!💙💙💙💙❄️
Amazing ,love it ,thanks

A stunning cake. What could be used as a substitute for alcohol?
I wonder about this as well.

Is there a way to do a similar style cake on buttercream?

Got it-I wasn’t sure if the airbrushing underneath part would work or if it would just make a mess of the buttercream, even if it was frozen
May i know, are u using buttercream or chocolate for basic ?..thank u🤗

Using Vodka, does that let a Vodka flavor in your cake/ frosting?
No it doesn’t. You’re not soaking the fondant in vodka. You just use a little bit of
