Have you got a problem with your G2? Me too. Help me solve this problem I have with it stalling in corners and against walls. More Details: evilveil.blogs...
I've had 3 different pool cleaners like this one, over the last 20 odd years. At some stage they have all not worked properly. It usually comes down to air being sucked somewhere into the system. Basic trouble shooting - Make sure the water level of pool is right, the skimmer box should be almost fully covered with water or at least half full, depending on your set up. If you see a swirl of water and/or hear a sucking noise in the skimmer box, you need to add some more water to the pool to stop this. Check that the plate inside the skimmer box that the hose runs into is flush and sealed. If your pool has jets check that the water is pushing out with some force, if not there is probably an air leak somewhere. All filters and basket catch points are clean. The pool cleaner hose length should not be excessively long, about 1 metre/3 feet longer than your pool should be ok. Check that the hose joins are tight and there are no splits in the hose. Check the diaphragm inside the head of the pool cleaner, make sure it isn't blocked with a pebble or something. Check the diaphragm doesn't have a hole or split in it, and any o rings are attached properly. The nut and o ring is sealed tight and properly on the pipe that feeds into the pool pump motor. Check the pool pump motor that the lid is tight and the o - ring is sealed properly Ensure all joins, o rings, threads are clean and free of sand, dirt, weeds, grass etc. All are connected properly to avoid any air being sucked in. In saying all that I have spent hours trying the get the pool cleaner running, they can be stubborn SOB. It’s an order of elimination, I usually have success after a few hours of playing around and checking everything, sometimes 2 - 3 times! If no success head to your local pool shop for help.
You have probably sorted this out now but for others looking, this is a tell tale symptom of a crack or tear in the diaphragm. (the internal piece of tubular silicone that makes it "quack"). Look at it very carefully, especially around the ring at the end where it is attached. Bend it slightly and find a small split.
i have the G3 and had the same problem... I found out that if you reduce the hose it works better!! stretch the hose across the pool. only use enough hose to the length of the pool.. anything else will create to much slack + damage the hose over a period of time. remember the more the hose will scrape the walls!!! hope this works for you:)
The lenght of the hose is way too long, mine had also issues stopping all the time, but I find out that the pump suction was too high. Reduced suction power with the special suction valve and this helped a lot. My pump is 1hp for a 8x4 mtr pool.
I was going to suggest the same as the others. My instruction said 2 hose lengths longer than the max length from where you connect to your skimmer and furthest reach of the cleaner.
Sir, my suggestion is have a look at 1:23. The pipe is block by the shape of the pool.If the pipe has nowhere to go, then the pool cleaner can't follow and won't move. I therefore suggest that you remove one or two units of pipe.
Easy. A number of possibilities: 1. The sleeve inside the Zodiac is split or punctured. They wear at the top where the split washer sits. 2. The coloured washers are not aligned to sit over the flanges on the blue pipe. Reassemble taking care to assemble with only a small amount of free play for the pulse to oscillate. 3. The hose is too long. It should not be more than 1.5 time the extremity of the distance between the skimmer and the furthest corner. 4. The springs on the skimmer mount are set too tight. Reset to the middle position to try to get the right amount of pressure to propel the Zodiac. 5. Finally, this machine works a treat for small debris but not for big (gum) leaves and twigs. After storms I always use the old vacuum head and suck out the big debris into the skimmer and sock. It does not take long then re-install the Zodiac. It is also good to keep the two skimmer baskets clear and backwash/rinse after a big clean. Zodiac is a very good cheap solution but does take a bit of manual intervention after big winds and storms. Happy days.
I have A Baracuda G3. The problem is, it keeps turning upside down. This is not the first one I have had and never had this problem before. Any ideas ?????
@@jeannettegraham4053 The head should pivot freely on the end of the hose. You should be able to turn the head 360 degrees without the hose moving at all. If it doesn't, find out why. - M
Looks like you have to many hose connections to start. If your hoses are old you might conceder new ones, the old hoses I have just aren't flexible enough, seems like they have a memory. Good luck I'm getting some ball bearing swivels
I had problems also...here's what I found.....first...clean the filter.....big difference with a clean filter.....as others are saying....watch the hose length.....play around with the valve for max suction....seems I have to do this every time I clean......of course no hose leaks.....that should cover it.....
You look hose locked. The RPM/ HP on your pump isn't enough to overcome the tensile load of the hose. Where is the flow keeper valve set at ? Try taking out a few sections of hose and brushing down the far end to the deeper end. You will always pattern to some degree with a mat type cleaner a tiny bit of brushing and alternative taking lengths out and putting them it will do the trick. If you want to avoid all that try an MX-8 elite.
I've given all those suggestions a good work over without success. The foot broke recently and, as it turned out, the thing moved much better with a new one fitted. I increased the RPMs and now the G2 doesn't get stuck anywhere. It's even climbing the walls again!
Ive had exactly the same issues. I cant increase the speed on my pump but got a big improvement in performance by putting tape around the edge of one end of the vacuum plate which mage it seal much tighter and with the extra suction it didn’t get stuck anymore. I used the foam backed tape you use to seal around windows so it had a bit of give in it. It even started to go back up the walls like it used to in the first year I had it. Sadly it lasts for a month or so and has to be redone.
The deflector we have unclips from the hose - pull it off sideways to raise it up or down and then push it back on the hose. There are other deflector designs that don't do this.
Michael Forman . Thank you for that. Mine slide onto hose. I was trying to put it onto the hose so it would be higher up o hose rather than near the hose connections. No clips on mine. I’m trying to push over hose ends without breaking anything??
Correct hose length is from skimmer to furthest point in the pool and add 1 hose length ...Problem solved You may need some fine tuning after that ....

Will scrape the hose not the wall you mean.

Your hose is way too long for starters. Try taking a few segments out and see what happens.

I had the same problem. The pool man said it might be having too much suction.
what horse power pump do you have need at least 1-1/2 hp ok good luck take the wait off that is what i did works fine good luck
I can’t control my pool suction though. I don’t have a valve for that.
Mine does this - bit hopeless really! Reduced hose length etc etc. Its gone in the bin for an electric one!

So how long did your G2 work before you had this problem?
Dave Sampson 18 months before the troubles started.

How do you raise the deflector??i tried but hoses pop open!?
Please help and thank you!! 👍

Same problems, just ordered a G3
I'm having a little more success with altering the speed of the motor and replacing the foot.

thankyou
Mine gets tangled up constantly
Pool hose is too long
Why are you talking 3hours about ool dirt etc when you explained problem..instead to go on solution????people watch it to find solution ffs!!!
