Meh, I think the Marine Corps could do better by at least requiring all fleet Marines to have an intermediate swim qual, as well as requiring 03’s to do a surf qual, helo dunker, and scout swimmer. Army Airborne has to have airborne wings, and that’s how they get to the fight. Why don’t we prioritize our “amphibious” nature more, especially if we’re going back to our amphibious roots after the Middle East? I doubt Royal Marines swam any less just because they went to Iraq or Afghanistan. Shoot, I can recall some SNCO’s that didn’t swim qual in over 5 years.
