Just picked one of these amps up today, and I love this thing. It sounds great and is so easy to use. I first tried a modeling amp, only to spend most of my time playing with knobs and buttons. I quickly took it back and got the Crush 35rt. This thing is well built, and sounds amazing. Being a beginning player, I think an amp like this is the best way to go. This way you can spend more time learning how to play your guitar then how to play with your amp.

Agreed. I bought one for my dad, an Crush 20rt because how easy the are to use. I wanted to keep it though after using it for a bit, the sound really good. Going to buy a 35rt for myself I think....

I am considering getting one of these as a simple jam/small gig amp . A guitar forum I frequent has nothing but praise for these amps and people often use them for gigs or rehearsals with drummers. Here is an example of a post about the 35 rt
So for anyone who plays louder/heavier music I used my crush 35rt at my black metal band practice yesterday.
Drummer is the cavemanest of all drummers. Other guitarist plays through a 100watt tube Peavey JSX with a 412 cab. I had to turn my clean channel down to 5/8 from 3/4 volume and my Boss HM2 volume down from 1/2 to 1/4 because I was drowning out his half stack which was pretty cranked.
I had the combo about 5 feet of the floor and all of us, including the bassist with a 300w Ampeg 115 and our singer, could hear it loud and clearly. And it sounded good. I did have to change the tone dials though, mainly the lowered bass a little, though I was super impressed with this amp.
It really is the perfect grab and go amp, great clean channel with lots of headroom, decent reverb, foot switch-able channels, dirt channel that does blues to punk and metal. And it’s light. Just my 2¢ but I think this could definitely replace some punk and metal guys half stacks.
    And another
I had kept my Pro Junior at our practice space for a long time. The Pro Junior, a Bad Monkey, two cables and a Snark tuner. Sometimes I would bring my pedal board, other times I would just use the Bad Monkey at practice. I missed having the Pro Junior at home (love the PJ).
I thought that if the Crush was a winner I would have a clean channel, a dirty channel, reverb and a tuner in one little amp and I would only have to bring a guitar to practice. Simplify simplify....it's practice.
The gain channel on the Crush is very British/Orange-ish...I'm used to a TS-808 sound but I was able to dial in a very nice light crunch. I got used to it in a hurry and I was very happy.
The clean channel is spanky. We ran the Beatles Birthday song and I was over the top of our drummer and the amp was clear as a bell.
The reverb is very nice. I'm always skeptical about digital reverbs but this one sounds spring-like. I don't know how they do it but they did it.
The tuner works very well. I wish it was a silent tuner but it's not. When you touch the tuner button and tune your guitar the guitar still plays loudly through the amp.
Major real world test number twice in one day:
Took it to a jam after the gig. Had a bevy of suburban bluuuz guys gathered 'round to get the low down on it. When they found out it was SS, a couple of 'em started doing the classic back-pedal "ahhh, I thought I could kinda hear that..."
One of them asked if he could pick it up. After he lifted it he just said "I'm getting one tomorrow".
Orange has built a serious sounding piece of gear, that costs next to nothing. If this thing lasts a year, I'll have gotten far more than my money's worth. I feel like I'll have it longer.
    Highly recommended.

I Love the Digitech Bad Monkey too and have the Ibanez TS-9 also but my BadMonkey does so well with my Ibanez RG guitars running it through the Peavey 6505 micro Piranha w/1x8” 6505 cab and it “Chugs” to my liking. I’ve used it for years in my mancave/bedroom situation and looking to upgrade to Orange amplification considering the Micro Dark w/1x8” cab combo from Sweetwater $269 and now reading raving reviews about the Crush 35RT w/10” driver for $279! What do I go with? Help me out “please”with your advice/opinions from you Orange guys cause I’ve only used Peavey since early 80’s (having local plant here in Ms. at one time) trying to keep my money down South and very pleased with Peavey! Just ready for a heavy experience with Orange amplification…..#🎸🤘🏻🔥#Ibanez#RG#Peavey#Orange#Lust/Envy

I recently traded my Vox Vt20 for a used Orange Crush RT20. I always assumed Orange amps were strictly for hard rock only. But this amp has a great clean tone. The tone is great and it takes pedals really well. I've used it with delay, tremolo, reverb, and overdrive pedals.
I own a Blues Jr also , and the Orange amp has a very organic response.
As far as the Vox, it just had too many features that I didn't want. I just need a great clean sound, great dirty sound, and a headphone/audio jacks for silent practice. The Orange amp fit the bill.

I just bought the 12 watt Orange for late night, living room jamming. (Also, for something just to take around when I am away from home) For such a small amp, it gets a fantastic sound. As a devote tube guy...I reluctantly purchased at RT-35 model as a back up to my Fender Deluxe Reverb ( which has been modded to hell and back ) BUT it is slowly becoming my favorite amp, easy to use works great with pedals as well as my Line 6 HD 500 which I had given up on til I purchased this amp.. I like the sound of a SM 57 in front of it for gigging as opposed to the headphone/line out

The Orange sound is unique, never copied the big three (F-M-V), and these practice amps knock it out of the park. 🏏 And... that Chapman guitar sounds sweet. Always loved the sound Tom Petersson attacked us with in Cheap Trick.

I actually couldn't find much difference in the tone between this and my older Crush 15R on the "extreme" gain setting for leads, and cleans are pretty much universally good across all amps ever made. But yeah, my 15R doesn't do "half-gain" well AT ALL, so this wins for a practice amp.

Two dwarfs out on the pull, manage to score and take two women home. Dwarf one can’t get it up and to make matters worse, all night he can hear dwarf two saying “right, here I come again… 1…2…3 uuhhhh”. Next morning, dwarf one says to dwarf two, “how humiliating! I couldn’t even get it up”. Dwarf two says, “You think that’s bad… I couldn’t even get on the bed”!
So the next night - the dwarf goes back to the woman from the night before except this time he’s carrying a little suitcase. As the woman lies back on the bed, preparing herself for a bit of a quiet night, the dwarf opens his suitcase and takes out four little peices of coiled spring.
He attaches one each to his feet and one each to his hands. Standing up, slightly unsteadily, he bounces first up onto the bed and then onto the awaiting woman. Up and down, up and down he goes until finally the end is reached and a terrific end it is. As they smoke a cigarette, the woman turns to the dwarf and says “Wow, little fella, that was the best I’ve ever experienced! But a somewhat unusual technique. What do you call it?”
“Well, its a german method” replies the dwarf, ” It’s four-sprung-dwarf-technique”

Got the 35RT, strictly for practicing at home. It's certainly plenty loud already, can't really turn it up even past 3.
However, I find it's voiced a bit strange, very bass heavy. I had to roll back the bass quite a lot before I got a nice clean tone out of it.
It could be the speaker, however, because through the headphones it's painfully trebble heavy.
Unfortunately you can't turn off the cab-sim.
Don't get me wrong, the price point is quite good you can still get a pretty decent tone out of this amp, you just have to fiddle with the EQ. The "everything at noon" voicing is just not quite right.

I have the Orange 35RT & it is a fucking monster... and honestly, you have to hear it with a tube screamer...I use the od808 and if I turn the dirt past 3 (with the gain appropriately at 9-10)
I could do a show at a small venue...for the price...idk if there’s a better combo, & I’ve had a few... after a few months of owning the 35RT I ended up selling my other combo amps, I’m sure the 20RT will get the job done just the same, part of me finds that the 35rt is almost too loud to play at my house so the 20RT could potentially be a better option if u live in an apartment etc...

Micro terror assuming you don't need multiple channels. The valve preamp makes its sound a lot warmer than any crush amp. Don't get me wrong, the crush amps are very solid for the money, and have more options, but the micro terror sounds better for the conventional orange high-gain sound.

Same dilemma for me; I considered Joyo Zombie ll but alot of poor reviews, it either works well or not at all so scared of it. So Should I buy the Orange micro terror w/1x8” cab combo or Crush 35RT for my small mancave/bedroom jamming. What is your advice or opinions with me playing ONLY Ibanez RG guitars from preference and Love since 89’?#Ibanez#RG#WizardNeckPerfection#570(JB),#550(NP),& 370DX(white)#PeaveyPirahna20wattMicro#w/1x8” 6505 cab currently#LookingforOrangeAmplificationUpgrade#ForHardRock/Metal#🎸🤘🏻🔥

I'm sure some people would think they have too many guitar. I recently bought a rack stand and realised I had enough guitars to fill it plus one more and I thought I might have a problem. That problem is not enough guitars.

he kind of alternates between a "D-maj-bar-chord" and a "E-min-7-bar-chord" i would say.
the note "b" of the Emin7 is hammered on (ringfinger 9th fret d string).

    • @BigEdWo
      @BigEdWo 10 ปีที่แล้ว

bahh - why have i started this. now i need to correct myself all of the time.
regarding the "Emin7" both fingers are hammered on simultaneously.
in case you've just started to play the guitar chances are little you can play this, but anyway:
      direction EADGBE Dmaj = x57775 Emin7 = x79787 9 and 8 is hammered on.

How Chappers said that Lee is using a standard Les Paul, I feel like maybe he should use a lower priced guitar because these are typically sold to people that may have a smaller budget, or somebody that just stays at home and plays as a hobby. They should've done the review with a standard fender or something at a smaller budget. by the way, these amps sound great!

Gaming Guitar Player Oh it's great, it's very loud for a 40 watt, very versatile amp with a ton of options, the software works great two, i think it's the best practise amp you can get at the moment as a complete package.

Nice amps indeed. Among others I have a Fender Frontman 15G, 15 watts & an 8" speaker that sounds equally as good on the clean and the gain channels! Most people deride the Frontman 15G. Here's my take. The speaker is not sounding good until after around 15 -
20 hours of playing. Then all of a sudden it becomes a different amp entirely. It sounds as good as just about any amp that I have ever owned. The only limit is that it's 15 watts driving an 8" speaker. It is loud, just not professional gigging loud. It is my favorite practice amp these day's.
Will I purchase an Orange amp? Yes, more likely than not I will. Or another 5 watt tube amp that can drive 4/8/16 ohm speaker cab's. They are loud but not ear damaging loud an can be purchased for less than $200 American in 2017. I love and prefer over driven tube amps ever since having a hot rodded Marshall JCM 900 with a Full Stack of JCM 900 1969A and 1960B speaker cab's.

I've recently got myself a Micro terror and a Marshall 1936V cab. It sounds pretty cool but, like you say it only has one channel. I'm thinking of getting a multi FX pedal board. which one would you recommend that's not pricey and you don't have a problem with by passing any modelling so you get the sound of your amp set up with FX. Cheers

I need a new and better sounding practice amp. Ive got a Marshall MG15 combo, and its not really doing it for me. I love a fat, desert rockish sound, and would love an amp with a little more power then the MG15 - are any of these Orange amps a good fit? I got a few pedals to help me with getting the sound right, but i need something that doesnt freak out when i turn up the volume. The MG15 cant handle that.
