Are you sure? Wouldn't that make them stronger in melee than any other unit? I know I used a mod once that said it gave the bulletproof trait to all armored units to make traditional armies more viable and it just made them take a bit less losses to each volley.
@@rocketsocks3116 effectively, because the bulletproof samurai has a hp increase AND a resistance to guns, but not vs arrows. You can see in the db the numbers and their hp per unit. They have more than any other (i think everyone in the same unit size has the same hp).

People act as if Japanese metalworking was so bad body armor hadn't evolved in 1000 years and Japanese plate armor from the XVIth would be inferior to early medieval chainmail. It's frankly stupidity at its finest. It's not gonna block a rifle bullet, sure, but samurai armor was still really good for what it was made for.
There's a mod on steam that makes matchlock units use bayonets and has aload of new animations for it. Including a great one where the dude throws the matchlock like a javelin at a charging enemy
apparently in history japanese infantry at the time used swords instead of bayonets. still dont know why they didnt give bayonets to the european elite units

The most units probably should use old type bullet looking on their range (The same or less than bows!), If they use Minie or modern bullet their range should be 3 times as large.

@@Goblin_Mode I technically can, on like 20 fps on the lowest graphics settings. I really like Total War but haven't been able to build myself a good modern rig Rn I'm running on our old home office PC, which is a Dell Inspiron tower with a 3rd gen I5, 16gb DDR3 RAM, and No GPU.
These armours did exist but were very expensive at that time (1500s). They were made for the far less powerful matchlock and did work to a certain extend. But you could only cover your chest to be able to move effectively in combat so getting hit somewhere else was the problem, especialy the head.
I wish they were actually bulletproof, not just idk slightly more bullet resistant. None of this is historically accurate anyways so why not have fun with it?

If this game had the armour piercing damage and missile block chance mechanics from the Rome 2 and 3 Kingdoms Total War, the Line Infantries might have won due to gunpowder weapons's insane armour piercing damage and impervious to armour missile block chance.
All rife units have ignore armor stat. Date Bulletproof are simply special unit with very thick armor stat cancel this above. This really work in 60 - 70 XIX yet, Cuirassier armor ect.
Actually, in shogun 2, guns ignore normal armor. In other words, guns mean instant kill. Date Bulletproof Samurai have bulletproof armor so they are highly resistant to bullets.

From my perspective, Romance mode in Three Kingdoms and Mythos/Truth behind the myth mode in Troy should adopt the old school arcade mechanics of Rome 1 and Medieval 2 instead of retaining the mechanics from Rome 2 and Three Kingdoms Records mode.

In this game, the accuracy and the behaviour of the units with rifles (tanegashima matchlocks, muskeets, etc.) are Innacurate AF.

nah FOTS units doesnt have rank fire, however line infantry does have kneel fire though

i like to keep them in loose during the charge and go back tight formation once the final volley is done. i'm not sure if it's actually better

Traditional units are great in siege defense, you only have to take out cannon at start of battle.
Just take cover while they run out of ammo.
They can't destroy the castle and the only way to win is to take the main square/castle.

Are you sure? They have very small dead compared to other units( always masscare before come close enough).
The bullet was a ball in matchlock. This line infantry in this era use modern bullet. So it's different but correct me if I am wrong
