No regard is given to the space between those extremes. It's most telling that Jihyo, Mina and Tzuyu all got the same personality type despite being very different people. Note as well that a lot of Jihyo's percentages were borderline; if she took the test again she could easily end up with a different personality type.
Out of everyone we've seen do this so far, I think Sana had the most fun. I actually enjoyed watching her go through the questions and explaining why she feels that way.
