All Marian titles are expressions of how the visionaries and the faithful experienced God’s grace through Mother Mary, and thus they are not Biblical (if you mean explicitly mentioned in the Bible), but they are more Historical (which means they have been proven true). That’s the essence of Catholic faith - Biblical AND Historical, the Grace of God as written in the Bible during the ancient times is being experienced historically (factual) in the faith experiences of the people. Mary has always been the intermediary (or “intercessor”) between God and humankind. The Biblical Mary of course appeared in the New Testament. Catholics believe that Mary as Mother of God has also been prophesied in the Old Testament. The Evangelist John also wrote about her in the Book of Revelation.
It is also very cultural. In the Philippines we call it “folk Catholicism”… I am not for it coz it sort of think about magical powers. But it does not go against the Catholic teaching. It’s not adoration, but only veneration. So if it could help enhance the faith experience of the people, why not? God bless you, my friend. I hope you grow more in faith every day.
