100% I have 3 days handling and 1-10 business days economy ship. EBay will tell the buyer it will show up sometimes even before the day I'm going to ship. Date to ship Dec 23. Date to arrive to buyer shown Dec 23-Dec 26. Date if I calculate it the way I've submitted it Dec 29-Jan 2.
Yes, ignoring is the problem. When they say something, "Thanks for letting me know it's missing. Unfortunately Christmas causes lots of delays, but at 7 days I can file a missing mail search with USPS, this normally tells them to find it and gives them specifics if something happened to the packaging. I had 2 items that got lost in the local post office last year and had issues with the website. I called the post office using the 1-800 number and submitted a claim to find the package over the phone. Both packages were found and delivered by Christmas.

So glad to hear this coming from someone else. I have had way too many INR cases and 4 of my Priority packages have been completely lost this year. eBay refunded a customer this past Wednesday and the item was delivered on Friday. I called and talked with an eBay rep who reversed the decision in my favor and I received my funds. USPS makes you wait 15 days to file a claim. I have angry customers who ordered items the first part of December and their items haven't tracked in more than a week!
I have had the same issues with the missing and late mail. I also had the same problem on the USPS site when submitting the missing mail form. I switched internet browsers and it finally me let me submit it. I switched from Chrome to Edge. I hope that helps. Love your channel.

We take our packages in and wait in line for the postal employee to scan in and give us a receipt. I've learned those machines are inconsistent and scanning them in through the self service is not acknowledged by USPS as officially received. Its really no different than dropping packages off without scanning. I have had several cases (before Christmas season) that I opened a missing mail case on the USPS website and after 2 weeks missing they suddenly found it in one day. Now what I have been told is if they are shorthanded at one regional center they send packages to another regional which delays everything by a week and then packages get lost. I currently have 20 orders affected by this.
I have a couple missing now. A couple others finally got delivered and one a no show. I sell a little over 100 per mo. Somethings really bad at the usps.
If it didn't get scanned it's your fault. Fix your process! If it has active tracking, you need to contact E-Bay directly when someone opens a case. If you speak with them they won't immediately side with the buyer if they escalate, as long as the package has tracking movement in the past 4 days.
Try submitting a missing mail search on your phone, just did one on my phone today, also, sometimes if you can get someone at the post office to check the tracking on their system, sometimes that gets it moving as well.
Always get the scanned receipt directly from USPS. I don't play games with shipping services. I'm on their ass 24/7 and checking all my deliveries every day.
Same here got packages delayed all over the United States. You have to do a lost mail claim and then it will arrive two days later every single time it’s amazing it works.
I have some packages that are arriving late to the next station. It happens every year, but eventually they make it. We have only had a couple that didn’t in the past. I won’t refund anything until eBay tells me to and if you have tracking, I don’t know how they would rule against you. They have always supported me in the past on those cases. What you said about collecting is so true! It’s hard to be a collector when you are a reseller. Everything I collect, specifically comics and transformers has a price. LOL. I will sell it if the price is right. Hope your shipping issues get worked out soon. You and your family please have a Merry Christmas and Joyful New Year!
You’re not alone Dave. My buyer just gave me a negative feedback instead of opening an item not received. I messaged the buyer to try to explain the situation, and I will also reach out to eBay.
Yes! If your item has shown movement withing the past 4 days, and you call E-Bay and speak to a rep, they will give an extension for the item to arrive.
In a similar situation with a few orders shipped via usps. I'd still put in missing mail searches for anything that is missing. Having to refund buyer before the search is completed sucks (because like you mentioned - if it does show up the buyer gets the item and the refund), but atleast if some are actually lost USPS will cut you a check for the missing packages (assuming they were shipped Ground Advantage or Priority)....Hopefully USPS gets back on track over the weekend...Happy holidays to you and your family!
Try doing a scheduled pickup by USPS . Easy to schedule on line. A carrier will arrive to pickup your items. Ask him to scan the items when he arrives for the pickup. In about 5-10 minutes you should see in the tracking "PICKED UP BY CARRIER". When you see that your package is officially in the USPS SYSTEM. I have had very little problems when I ensure that the carrier does a pickup scan.
I had the same thing happen. I wrote down the tracking numbers and took it to my local post office ( the USPS website was not allowing me to file a claim!) my local postmaster was very kind , searched each “lost” package and was able to give each one a poke and get them moving. Some packages where finally delivered, there was a few that was missing in action !
You said you scanned it in. Even if you go to one of the personal scan stations at USPS it still doesn't count as an official scan. I had this problem and switched to waiting in line to get them scanned in. A USPS employee has to scan it for an official scan.
do you scan at the machine in the lobby? because that isn't an official scan. the receipt says it's a pending scan until they receive the item. they say you can scan it at the machine and not put it into the bin or slot.
I keep a google spreadsheet "to do list" of hanging issues just so I don't forget anything. I specifically do it in google sheets so I can access it from anywhere.
I found different USPS locations have better percentages of entry scans, so I started only dropping at locations where I get 99%+ entry scans. Not dealing with the hassle of lost packages is a huge time savings.
The thing I’m super annoyed with when it comes to returns is the customer only has to upload a photo. No explanation is needed which is crazy to me. They should at least try to give a reason why.
We are in a small town with a small local post office so I have built a relationship with the lady that runs it, so I trust her now and just drop off daily, but before that trust was built or if anyone I don't know is filling in for her, I stand there and make them physically scan every package in right in front of me! That is the only way to make sure your tracking numbers enter the system!!
Dave I had a Postmaster tell me that if you don’t have them logged in at the post office you can’t track them right. There’s a note in Mecari if you drop off a ups package at the post office it’s not getting tracked right should go to UPS 😊💐
Whatever you do, don't let your seller rating dip to Above Standard. Jride went down to Above Standard (I think because of the same reason as you - packages weren't scanned) and his sales went down a great deal. I think you also pay higher fees if you're Above Standard. Jride said if he could do it over, he'd just sent refunds to all of the late packages in order to keep his Top Rated status.
I had 15 missing for 3 weeks . I stayed on top of it . I stayed on USPS and kept in contact with our customers. I am down to 1 missing now and i have had no cases opened
You can call the post office and have them search the tracking numbers. You can also get ahold of eBay and ask them if they will put an extension on the case to give the package time to be delivered. Most of the time they will put a 10 day extension on the case.
SOMETIMES if an item shows in transit, you can call ebay and ask them to extend the 3 day deadline. The last time I tried, they said no, but in the past they have, but make sure you refund before those cases close! I have found that scanning in at the PO is not an official scan and USPS doesn't count that if it doesn't get a regular scan because people could scan, not send, and file a claim. I have also messaged buyers when they opened these cases asking them to re-pay when the item arrives. I have not been so lucky, but I know some sellers have. USPS is sucking big time this season. MANY things we purchased are stuck somewhere and a 2 day priority I sent to someone who needed it in 4 days took a full week to get there. There are going to be a lot of people missing Christmas gifts this season, and they hiked the rates for the holidays!
I dont think its anything your doing wrong dave its a massive problem with usps right now im having the same issue right now multiple packages that i shipped weeks ago now have zero scans besides the acceptance scan and buyers are getting upset. File the missing mail claims is about all we can do right now.
DAVE keep trying with usps. It took me 10 times for it to go through. do the third option for missing packages and put all info in. Mine have been missing from freaking November 18th and ebay hasn't closed the buyers not received YET!!! Because I did that. You have to put their address in and yours and etc.
I wait in line and get a receipt. "USPS in Possession of item" Lonnie and Candice had a good video(s) last week about how to handle USPS right now, Candice has been on it.
Hi Dave so the first thing you need to do is call eBay to get an 10-day extension on those missing packages. Update the request with just the tracking number. File missing package with USPS. IT'S ANNOYING BECAUSE THE USPS MISSING PACKAGE WEBSITE IS THE SLOWEST ON THE INTERNET. Then wait to see if it gets delivered. If there's no delivery you'll have to refund the buyer and file a insurance claim with USPS.
Not simply usps, I have packages stuck at fedex, ups and usps😡 no movement in a week! Slacker work force is the problem- folks want $20 an hour but god forbid they must work to get it🤬🤬 And no choice but to refund if they are lost. The icky side of reselling😭
Don't refund the buyer. You can wait and let Ebay make a decision. That way, there is a chance the item will arrive before ebay does anything. That is what I do when this happens. I think it's the best way because you give more time for your item to arrive, and if it hasn't arrived by the date Ebay set, the only thing they will do is give the buyer a refund. I've had many cases close before Ebay does anything because the package arrives. Hope this helps! Thanks for the great content.
I've got the same thing happening missing packages some tracked some not and in Canada Post can't find them. EBay gave everybody a refund but thats how it goes. Even when you're right you're wrong and when you're wrong you're wrong customers always right.
Luckily, I drop my packages off to the main post office in our area and there's a counter for prepaid labels. I haven't had any trouble with packages not being scanned (knock on wood). I can even see all of the handheld scanners right next to the drop off counter. There's no way I'm standing in the line, which the past couple of weeks, have been out the door almost to the parking lot!
I have a problem with packages of mine that are going to Florida. Every single one I have sold this year going there have been dead slow lost or returned. No other state has been that way for me. Are you signed up for informed delivery from usps it makes it much easier to report missing packages at least in my experience.
If you scan the package in at post office and put it in the drop box, it isn't scanned in as usps shipped until they scan it. I now go to counter. Because then they scan it in.
We’ve had this happen and usually we call USPS customer service. And then we typically within 48 hours packages either moving or has been delivered.. I always ask my customers to please have patience. The package isn’t lost. It’s just very slow right now. If you voluntarily give them that money back, eBay will never refund you when that package shows up . Because you voluntarily offered the refund it basically gets them off the hook. You never get your money unless the people are honest and try to work out a way to get you a PayPal payment.
Don't be a "lay down" with customers. Have proactive communication with your customers if something hasn't been scanned in and also alert them of your actions for correcting the problem (hey, I called them up and asked feedback for where this package is located). Develop a relationship with your local postal branch and ask them to scan in your boxes as soon as you arrive. There is a single scan you can have them do for all your boxes if you printed up all your labels.
As a USPS employee I can tell you that you are not scanning them into our system. An employee has to do it once the parcel is picked up by employee or dropped off at an office. Dejoy is ruining the post office! They’ve stolen 1 billion dollars from our rural carries salaries alone! This was the slowest Christmas I’ve ever seen! We didn’t even need parcel runners! But our plant kept sending our UPC’s to the wrong office; hell on Christmas Eve they left 3 of them full of parcels sitting on the dock! Then said they weren’t sending a truck knowing it was Christmas presents… idk what the hell is going on but it’s scary! Especially in this economy! A parcel of mine that came from Canada sat for 2 weeks with no scans until finally it was delivered to a parcel locker. My packages have been moving slow and many have been late and lost or damaged.
I’ve had this happen where the package was going between my town and the nearby town for like almost 2 weeks I went to my post office about it and they said it was because it wasn’t scanning right, I said well they need to use their eyes! Anyways it finally got to the person after 2 weeks. So if you’re bending the bar code at all over the edge of a package that could be part of the problem. However some postal places just don’t scan everything like they’re supposed to and some in the system just plain ol steal packages. Maybe you entered a wrong number, I’ve done that. But go to your post office about it for sure! And call eBay about it!!!!
everything's been about 3 days late for about 6 months from the buyers end. I purchase about 15-20 items a month as a model builder. My daily digest from the USPS is usually wrong, some of the problem is with the post office. I live in the boonies too so that's a factor.
Same here. The past month has been horrible with shipping USPS. Dropped off packages and there not show up as arrived an the post office. I’ve had to refund a few items.
It sounds like you’re not actually entering the tracking info into your cases when they get opened up. If the package shows as delivered, eBay almost never sides with the buyer. You have to erase the prefilled in tracking and RE-ENTER it. It’s annoying, but that’s what you have to do. DO NOT just verify that the tracking number is there and hit submit. RE-ENTER IT
Currently waiting on a package from Tenn, I'm in GA.... it's stalled somewhere in GA but post office isn't sure exactly where but assured me I'm still gonna get it... going on 2 weeks now btw
Unfortunately, Georgia postal service has always been slow/ delayed for me as a seller. Not sure what the issue is there. I’d recommend going to USPS website and get email/ text alerts for your package and may get your package moving. It’s worked for me thus far. Good luck & hope you get your package soon.
I’ve been shipping UPS Ground Saver lately for most things. I’ve discovered there’s not been the delays as there are with the few I’m shipping Ground Advantage.
You need to go online and file a missing package. If you don’t it might take several weeks before it starts moving again. If you do go to website and send item not moving it will mysteriously start within a day or two?
I've been having the same frustrations. With the USPS site not working properly (i've tried too), ebay should be stepping in and helping sellers, by at least giving more time before those cases are closed. I've received numerous messages about things not arriving, and am sure a ton of cases are on their way. Plus I'm still receiving a bunch of orders, with buyers apparently thinking there is still time for online christmas shopping as of Saturday morning (the 21st)
I had a $1,400 dollar package that never got scanned in. Fortunately, I purchased the insurance, and surprisingly the claim went in my favor even though it was never scanned in by USPS. So both myself and the buyer came out whole.
Go directly to your local post office and ask them to look up those tracking numbers. They probably took the site down because they don't want to be swamped with requests that will eventually show up over the busiest season. But, the post master can still look it up for you. If they say they are too busy, then leave the numbers with them and plan on checking back in the next day. Also, if you feel the scanner isn't working, then check all your scans in 24 hrs to make sure it is showing in the system. It sounds like a lot of work, but it is nothing compared to the lost customers, Ebay reports, and stress.
My cases have been giving me 7-10 days to respond. Don’t ignore them. Talk the buyer off the ledge and wait for a positive usps update in that time window.
Sorry for the 2nd comment here. When usps disabled my account I got this same error. Call the toll free verification number for usps. When connected ask for the help desk or IT.they will transfer you to a live tech that Wil, fix your account while on the phone
Wait until the case deadline. File a usps claim if it says you dropped off, if it says you didn’t drop it off, no claim can be filed. If you get the check before it’s delivered you keep that ins claim check. I would file the ins claim asap.
2 of my last three sales had to refund only for the packages to show days later. It is constant and ridiculous but what do you do. I fought USPS to be denied several times
I was sending packages out in my parcel locker next to my mail box for years with no problems, then this year it has been nothing but problems. 6 lost packages! In 27 years I have maybe had 1 lost packages. I spent three months putting in requests and complaints and finally I just gave up and started going directly to the PO and getting a receipt and physically watching them scan. I HIGHLY doubt it's your error if you haven't changed anything, it's the USPS.
When Ebay gives option of upload tracking, do it. It lets eBay know you are doing something, not just ignoring them. Ebay is also taking consideration of USPS notice of holiday shipping clogs if it shows on tracking. What Ebay hates is no response to them or buyer.
Its more complex. UPS was awarded the big USPS contract last August as FedEx didn't want it anymore basically. Inter Regional freighting the USPS does everything else goes via subcontract couriers by Tractor Trailer, Rail Freight, Air Freight etc. One of the big reasons why FedEx wanted out was Amazon. Last season Amazon was taking heavy packages at warehousing and sending them through USPS as its was cheapest to do. Last year I could sat in front of FedEx hub here and Amazon's warehouse here and saw USPS Box Trucks being filled at the Amazon hub drive literally 400 feet to the FedEx facility where the USPS packages come back off the trucks. So FedEx getting screwed and want out before this holiday season. Now UPS is a different deal... UPS reserves the right to open, inspect etc any parcel in their charge. UPS also prioritizes shipping. UPS Customers will ALWAYS get preference in the finite room inside freight containers whether going, tractor trailer, rail or air period and rightfully so. Their customers are paying for UPS services and all subcontract services be that USPS, DHL or others who subcontract UPS freighting take lower priority. Where USPS packages seem slow to go from place to place is because the stuff is sitting unprocessed at UPS hubs.
@pstep691 debacles happen from wants? Lmao if ya say so. And no I have no idea what debacle you're referencing. Nor how 4 years ago has anything to do with right now
I just had a buyer contact me for the same issue. The package had not moved since the 12th, and it was the 17th. She requested a refund thru Ebay, and I sent the refund, the next day the package started moving and was delivered today. I'm out the product and the refund, what is the recourse from Ebay perhaps they should allow a period of time for delivery if the package still says running late.
I ordered fabric from a quilt store on Dec 4 just got it on Dec 20! I had to nudge them to ship it. They advertise super fast shipping. I received several refunds because about 1/2 were out of stock. They were available when I ordered
2 had that happen with 2 items that have not gone past my local post office, then after a month, one of them has been delivered, unfortunately the other one hasn’t been delivered yet. Crossing my fingers that they find it.
Oh tis the season for late and missing packages...lol. Whenever I get a package that hasn't moved or a customer opens a case for not received. I go to USPS and sign up to get text alerts. And 9 out of 10 times it starts moving again the next day. Worth a shot.
I bought something off eBay. Got the tracking number. Item was from 100 miles away in Texas, where I live. Through usps It went to Houston, then to Louisiana, then back to Houston, then to Louisiana, then back to Houston. Should be here in a couple days…I know not to blame shipper, just ridiculous on usps part.
We don’t generally have a lost or missing package issue. We had 2 in 2 years. We refunded the customer immediately and then USPS refunded us shipping and the cost of the item. Note: We use Pirate Ship and we placed the missing package claim through them and they did all the work for us.
It's happened to me twice in the last 45 days USPS losing my packages and USPS won't reimburse me for the Lost packages because in their tracking system it says delayed then all of a sudden it says not received

@@joytoyouandme4593She meant that you need to channel the Karen energy and approach the USPS jerks in a crass manner. Don't nitpick, joytoy (hmm), it's something that a real Karen would do.
Love your videos Dave! Hope you and your family have a Very Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁🤗
DAVE DO NOT REFUND UNTIL EBAY SAYS YOU HAVE TO... CALL EBAY FOR AN EXTENSION...
I think it's very important to keep messaging buyer and help smooth stuff over and also keep closer track of your deliveries
👍🏼 thankfully, it has worked for me. Most buyers are patient and understanding if you keep up communication with them. 🙏🏼
Dealing with same issues. Thank God I got lucky and have very understanding buyers. Hasn't always been the case in years past lol.
I enjoy all you’re videos I have been watching you’re videos since you lived in NC .I live in Sanford NC .You are a great seller keep up good work .
do you scan at the machine in the lobby? because that isn't an official scan. the receipt says it's a pending scan until they receive the item. they say you can scan it at the machine and not put it into the bin or slot.
Very true!! All Post offices are not created equal!! Some are terrible!!
when you get the URL to long message just hit refresh and the page usually loads, USPS site is odd, but hitting refresh usually works
Yes. This is what I came here to say.
I agree, keep communicating with your buyers and 9 times out of ten, they’re patient and understanding.
You can call the post office and have them search the tracking numbers. You can also get ahold of eBay and ask them if they will put an extension on the case to give the package time to be delivered. Most of the time they will put a 10 day extension on the case.
I did not know you could ask for an extension. Thanks for the information.
I am only a buyer and I think buyers should be more patient... it's the holiday and well patience will payoff in the end
"USPS in Possession of item"
Lonnie and Candice had a good video(s) last week about how to handle USPS right now, Candice has been on it.
Your drafts may still have same day shipping. Make sure you’re updating the shipping time on your drafts
That’s why I always stand in line with my packages and get a receipt with the scan in.
I feel your pain, but this is draining lol on to the next video
I've got the same thing happening missing packages some tracked some not and in Canada Post can't find them. EBay gave everybody a refund but thats how it goes. Even when you're right you're wrong and when you're wrong you're wrong customers always right.
Luckily, I drop my packages off to the main post office in our area and there's a counter for prepaid labels. I haven't had any trouble with packages not being scanned (knock on wood). I can even see all of the handheld scanners right next to the drop off counter. There's no way I'm standing in the line, which the past couple of weeks, have been out the door almost to the parking lot!
This is so true I have like 5 of this same natural
I have a problem with packages of mine that are going to Florida. Every single one I have sold this year going there have been dead slow lost or returned. No other state has been that way for me. Are you signed up for informed delivery from usps it makes it much easier to report missing packages at least in my experience.
I take all my packages in to Usps personally and get it scanned and get a receipt.
I’ve had a couple same issues with USPS and several with FedEx Economy whenever my shipments go from East to West Coast.
I have 17 cards mailed out on The 26th of last month that still haven't shown up in tracking.
I have had no cases for missing packages. Most of my customers are ecstatic how quick there items are arriving.
Are you sure it left the origin facility?
You need to go online and file a missing package. If you don’t it might take several weeks before it starts moving again. If you do go to website and send item not moving it will mysteriously start within a day or two?
I've been having the same frustrations. With the USPS site not working properly (i've tried too), ebay should be stepping in and helping sellers, by at least giving more time before those cases are closed. I've received numerous messages about things not arriving, and am sure a ton of cases are on their way. Plus I'm still receiving a bunch of orders, with buyers apparently thinking there is still time for online christmas shopping as of Saturday morning (the 21st)
eBay don't care about anything as long paying for the mansion
Fill out a missing mail form and be sure to select the option to have it returned to you. You should get the item back.
Sorry for the 2nd comment here. When usps disabled my account I got this same error. Call the toll free verification number for usps. When connected ask for the help desk or IT.they will transfer you to a live tech that Wil, fix your account while on the phone
I usually have to open the missing mail link twice to get it to work. I think they do that to deter people.
Wait until the case deadline. File a usps claim if it says you dropped off, if it says you didn’t drop it off, no claim can be filed. If you get the check before it’s delivered you keep that ins claim check. I would file the ins claim asap.
Thats why I don't do the drop off thing. I take in and make them scan and give me receipt that proves they got it at the post office
Usually if you do a missing mail form it starts to move. Sometimes the form isn't available so you have to just try again later..
👍👍😎✌️🤟 Thank DJT and Louis DeJoy for your issues with the USPS. No one else.
Why?
@@TheThriftyVeteranDon’t you remember the whole debacle four years ago when he wanted to end funding for the USPS?
@pstep691 debacles happen from wants? Lmao if ya say so. And no I have no idea what debacle you're referencing. Nor how 4 years ago has anything to do with right now
You are so right
I just had a buyer contact me for the same issue.
Sometimes stuff doesnt scan until it reaches the buyers area at the end right before delivery. Idk why they do this but might happen this way.
Same, it’s not my fault that they loose the package. But we have to refund them. The tracking says it was delivered but they didn’t receive it.
It's happened to me twice in the last 45 days USPS losing my packages and USPS won't reimburse me for the Lost packages because in their tracking system it says delayed then all of a sudden it says not received
