These ladies are a permanent fixture in Ecuadorian markets. I take it all of the spiritual healing with a grain of salt, but there is definitely wisdom to be found in these ancient practices, especially when it comes to home remedies and herb lore.

Like the public markets themselves, the "limpias" are a distinct tradition here. Ecuadorian people really value their traditions and make an effort to keep them alive where most countries have become so disconnected. Where are you from?

Hello, I'm curious about one thing - how cleaners choose the Type of cleaning? For example sometimes they dont spit, dont do massage, make herbal "bitting" for 5 minutes or 10 minutes, apply some creams/these herbal things
Are they asking persons what they want or maybe choose the cleansing method by themselfs?
There are different remedies for different ailments, and each healer also has different methods and styles. The vast majority of the remedies that you are seeing these videos are general techniques to cleanse the body of negative energy and relax the person, which they do with medicinal herbs, the egg, natural materials such as stones, and by chanting cleansing words. The public markets are a distant part of Ecuadorian culture, especially in the Sierra region, and in rural areas they are the center of civic life. These traditional healers are just one of the vibrant cultural aspects of the public markets, people in Ecuador really do support and conserve their traditions and cultures more than in another countries, at least in my experience...

I can't say how old she is, but both she and Doña Esperanza are quite young to be doing this. Don't know if you noticed, but if you look in the background, most of these women are much older.... even very elderly in some cases!
