These tutorials are so great 😊 As someone who can draw and do realism with black and white, ive always struggled with color and simplifying. While learning color and simplifying can be frustrating, these tutorials give me an "easy win" to keep my spirits up during the journey and allow myself to learn by doing.
Love this guy, I started my procreate journey watching him and I come back every now and then for tips on things I may not quite understand how to do. Great teaching style!❤
I've just nearly finished this one and I think it's been my favourite so far.. Just felt so satisfying.. especially doing the highlights on the tree and the foliage.. it still amazes me how you come up with the correct colours etc... Awesome work James!!
I'm just really getting properly into digital art and I have to say this tutorial is phenomenally helpful. Iv been struggling allot with hyperfocusing on details and being wayy to precious and finiky about what I do create. Your advice about allowing yourself to be destructive and to be able to see your process is honestly invaluable. I shall be following your tutorials with the aim of helping me to loosen up with my art. Thank you soooo much.
Thank you, I really appreciate seeing how someone with a background in traditional painting uses Procreate. I’m trying to learn digital painting, but the last thing I want to do is just stamp everything out using specialized brushes that do most of the work for me. I’d really like to see an overview of the brushes that you find to be most useful for producing vibrant landscapes that have a hand-painted look.
im just laughing like an idiot whenever you add more stunning detail to an already great looking part of the picture. Too good. Thank you for these videos.
I loved your method of painting and explaining the process. I wish you to go further on talking how those color matched in the composition and how to work with them. I'm always struggling on creating my color pallet. Thank you so much for sharing.
I open procreate on my ipad, let's try to learn a new skill that i desperately try to learn since a very very long time, well, first thank you James to be an awesome and lovely content creator, such an amazing, artist, and a good, calm, an awesome teacher ! i will reply to my own comment when i will finish this tutorial to react on my "journey" ! so exited to be capable of painting every little things that pass trought my head! from france with love ! thankyouuuuuu
Hey everyone, I finished my painting, this is so beautiful, you literraly unblock me, i don't even know how i can thank you, this something huge for me, i am so exited to draw and draw and draw more ! I will send you my results on your instagram to share with you the amazing job you did on youtube, thank you james your a so cool !!!!! i am so curious, of what you will draw next sunday, maybe we can give you some ideas that will be cool ! Community art prompt !!!!
Okay, I just want to take a minute to stop drawing and tell you this: I have been following your tutorials a couple of years now and I am AMAZED with your talent and your progress, wich helps me progress too. I know practice does not make perfect BUT it does make BETTER. In your case the quality of your tutorials have gotten up dramatically. Wich again, makes my drawings better too. The technics you are using are so simple and the end result seems impossible to achieve, but yet I can do it!! You are my ONE and only youtuber that i keep going back when I want to draw. Keep it up, never stop and be inspired. You inspire us all. ❤❤❤

I bought my first iPad this week and had blast trying out with your tutorials, they're so helpful and definitely gonna guide me with all the tips for the future projects ❤ keep it up ❤ thanks
I have one question for the Digital Bob James Ross...What is your pressure and smoothing settings? These are fantastic videos as I was a pencil and paper or paint and canvas artist switching to digital. So easy to follow, thank you for your work.
These landscapes have been so amazing lately! I love learning how to do them- you are a wonderful instructor. I was wondering if you might ever do like a desert setting? I’ve struggled with deserts and oasis-like backgrounds a lot in the past- was curious if that would ever be something you’d draw for people to learn! Either way please keep it up!! Your art is amazing and teachings are so on point! ❤❤
Hey , James 😊 Love you art videos so much man , a kind suggestion i wish to put forward through here , could you please use renames to layers so it’s easier for newbies like me , thanks and cheers 🎉
@@JamesJulier-Artist I think because I was playing Avatar on PS5 recently, I’m kinda still there. Thanks though mate. Love these tutorials now that I can actually draw them again 😂
Great tutorial! Thank you! Little advice to newbees: Don't forget to lock each layer after you're done with it. Otherwise, you might mess up your whole project by working on the wrong layer and finding out too late. It happened to me a couple times. Hours wasted!
James, I have the iPad Pro 11in. I’m new to this and have followed a few tutorials and love them. Are your colors brighter than mine? For some reason your colors always look brighter!
Are you using a 13 inch iPad Pro? I have an iPad Air 11 and sometimes I find it a bit small for drawing large formats, what do you think? Thanks for sharing all these tutorials, it’s a great way to learn the process and find our own style!
Hi James! I love all of these but I have a question. What is the best way to learn color theory? Like how did you tackle this problem when you were a beginner? Of course aside from just practicing. Thank you!
hey, love the tutorials but wondered if for those of us who dont use procreate could you please include a screen shot of the color swatches with the donwload link and hex codes on your patreon link? on my tablet its quiet difficult to add the swatches by hex but easy to create one from the i dropper tool if that makes sense?
I don’t know why but my soft brush is different than yours. I have the exact same canvas size but yours brush set to 50% size is so big and mine is really small. Not sure why that is.
when i press lightly against my ipad with my apple pencil it doesn’t give off a ‘lighter line’ it just has the same effect if i was to push as hard as i could. any help??
I'm extremely new to procreate and I wish you could explain how you edit the brushes and how to edit the page size a little better. I can get the details of the dimensions of the canvas to show up just like you did but can't figure out how to change the size to fit your perfectly and tried changing the "altered" brushes to look exactly like yours I think this was from a different video that you had said they had been altered a little bit but you never said exactly how and I tried doing it anyways and mine just comes out so much different than yours and I'm guessing these two reasons are why? Meaning the canvas size,/dpi and exact brushes edits?? Thanks for the pointers tho I hadn't used the gradient options yet. Like I said super new to this I can't even tell u how many times i paused and rewinded this video cuz it's way too many to count lol
If I change the brush at all I always explain exactly what I’ve done to it at the point I’m using it so no need to guess. You must have just missed it somehow
