    Please drop me a comment and let me know how you are using the Mavic Air Quickshots in different ways. I am finding new ways every time I try these out. Would really like to see how others are using this automated flight mode.

      Jeff Greene How are you , thank you so much for you help with quick shots , I have a question , is it posible to move the gimble of the camera up and down while it is in motion of doing the quick shot and also can you show a video of it ? One more thing is it posible to change the speed of the drone at which it will do the quick shot ??? Sorry one more question lol at which altitude it is better to do quick shots and how far of a distance should you be from the objeck ??

    Jeff, great again! You are the first one I noticed who showed Quick Shot with neutral objects instead of shooting yourself ! Thanks for that hint.

      Thanks RGedack! I stumbled across this the other day while panning down setting up a quickshots. I noticed cars driving by on the street and each one of them had a green tracking dot on them. Didn't really think about it until several hours later at home. I wondered, "what else can i track"?

    I'm glad you tried using something other than yourself as the focal point, I've been wondering if and how to use other objects but I'm really new to the Mavic Air and still learning and trying not to do something stupid and lose or damage the drone or someone or something else, great videos, please keep them coming, its much appreciated.

    I know you spend a lot of time on these videos. I, we, appreciate it. I just - 5 minutes ago - got my RED Mavic Air straight from DJI in China. It took a week from ordering it to Washington, DC metro/my door. I also have the Phantom 4, but as you might know, it's a pain to carry around. And I have the Spark, but it's doesn't have enough "muscle" and quality. Great tips/tutorial!

    Jeff, this was really helpful as a new Mavic Air owner. As you, I was not interested in the new Quick Shot features for "selfies", but rather more interested in focusing on structures or nature. I was also curious about the new features working in less than wide open areas as most video posts have been done by others. I live in the mountains of North Caroline and have the same concerns as you as far as these new features with surrounding trees and such. You addressed some of these key issues -- so that was much appreciated. Keep posting. : )

      Thanks Lamont Gilliland! Hello from Raleigh. FYI, I also just saw in a BK video that you can double tap the "helix" symbol to change the height and distance for the helix shot. I had not noticed this and was not able to get above the trees(30m, or 100ft) while targeting myself. Super helpful to know.

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Z, yep. quick little technique can be used called "speed ramping". Any video editing software should be able to to it. Here is how it do it: th-cam.com/video/ddtaWz7grtY/w-d-xo.html

    As a newbie I like this since I'm still intimidated by free flying. If I can get up to a certain height, pick my subject, and let the drone do the rest, that seems like some major stress reduction.
    One thing I'd like to know more about is your editing techniques; how do yo do the little speed ups and slow downs? What kind of transitions do you like? Are those hard transitions or do you actually use canned transitions? Etc. If you have any videos about that please point me to them. Thanks!

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the thumbs up David. I really enjoy the speed ramps. Seems like a good way to get different angles of a much longer shot without the clip being overly long. Here's a video i did on the techniquep: th-cam.com/video/ddtaWz7grtY/w-d-xo.html You can doing this in pretty much any video editor, though I use Final Cut Pro. Most of the transitions that i use are stock transitions from FCP X, though i have picked additional ones through Ryan Nangle's channel as well. Definitely worth checking out.

    I think the Quickshots are all based on a visual “lock-on” (vs. a GPS reference). As such, they are designed for close-in references. The most likely close-in reference is the pilot. They are simple to use and provide DJI a means to teach techniques that can be models for manual control or modes such as Tripod or Cinematic. My biggest issue with these modes is that they are so tightly defined. I, for one, would like to have a circle continue until I hit pause. But ... for Quick-and-dirty simplicity, I would use the Quickshots. This might be when I am traveling and filming recreationally vs. when I am doing “production” work. I thank DJI for providing this kind of toolkit.

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Russell Schundler thanks for the comment, I 100% agree. I would really like to see the ability to control the gimbal wheel during a quickshot like the circle, helix, and boomerang. Fingers crossed for a fw update😁

    When I bring up the quick shots, the black bar at the bottom of the screen which shows you the different quick shots, after selecting for example dronie, how to you get rid of that black bar since my object (myself) is covered by that rectangular black bar. After I press dronie, that black bar stays and doesn't go away. Using an android note 4

    Nice and clear video. Is it possible to make quickshots from moving objects like a tractor working in the field? Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agri8TV yes this will work! I would like to see this. I think each quickshot has set amount of time (like 30 secs) but you can definitively track an object like a tractor.

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chu Udoh hi which portrait mode are you referring to, the selfie quickshot, or maybe active track?

    • @Udohme
      @Udohme 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Greene yea when taking a selfie. Like to post on social media. Rotating the camera on the drone so it isn’t taking the picture horizontally but vertically. I think it’s referee to as portrait and the other way is called landscape?

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chu Udoh oh i see. This is done in the camera settings. Go in there and you will see that your photo is currently on 16:9. Change this to 4:3(portrait). Now all of you pictures will be sized correctly.

    • @JeffGreeneChannel

      Nope, the gimbal is locked once you start the quickshot.

  • @AlbertAguilera22
    @AlbertAguilera22 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jeff, I noticed your white balance was in auto mode during the quick shot modes. Can you have your camera setting in manual while using quick shots or does it default to auto?

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Albert Aguilera i have heard others having issues where quick shots puts them in 1080 instead of 4k video. I have not had this problem though. In this shot i was filming before i bought the nd filters so i left the auto wb enabled. Usually i set up everything manually.

I tryed circle and boomerang in high-trees Environment and, well, better not to speak about the outcome... For God's sake, dear Air users, don't rely 100% on the proximity sensors! :)

  • @Heli4213
    @Heli4213 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome. Just got my Mavic and flew it 2 times but I am 3 feet from the ground and it wont land. I had to hit auto land it wouldn't let me? Any Ideas??
    Thank You

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heli4213 yep you need to hold the left stick down until it lands. The mavic will pause at 2 ft (sensing the ground as an obstacle). So just hold left stick down until it lands AND the propellers stop spinning. Good to go!

    • @Heli4213
      @Heli4213 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Greene
      Ok. I thought it was like the P3 Professional and you hold the stick a little to descend and when its on the ground pull the stick all the way down.
      I didn't pull the Mavic stick all the way down was afraid the motors would stop in the air .
      Can you lets say pull the stick all the way down from a 100 feet and it will just descend without issue??
      Thanks🙂🙂

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heli4213 yep it will descend normal speed only pausing as it nears the ground. Then it will land and turn off the props like normal.

    • @Heli4213
      @Heli4213 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Greene
      Seems like you're the expert on the Mavic for sure.
      One more question if possible nobody else seems to know I did a little video in some of the shooting modes and when I played it back on by computer and on my phone it played fast it didn't play at normal speed is that a setting in the drone??
      🙂🙂

    Thank you ! I find your videos very informative and also very helpful as I too have just purchased a new Mavic Air. I am relatively new to the drone world as far as camera drone, but I really enjoy the hobby and would love to make more of it that just a hobby. I shot a few videos on my own channel I have posted them, check them out let me know what you think. I’m in the process of editing a really cool set of videos I shot with some good close-ups of some windmills, the sunset and the lighting looks spectacular. I hope I can do the videos justice with some good editing on Final Cut Pro X. Unfortunately I am also new to the program and it has a really steep learning curve.

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for nice comment Heluva Flight! I just watched the vids on your channel, and it looks like you have a nice place to fly. You definitely have a good eye so keep at it. FCP X is a bit of a learning curve, but everything you need is out there on TH-cam. I try to make one improvement with each video that i create. Then the next video is that "n" improvement plus another. Pretty soon, you've got 25 improvement ideas you can bring to each video. Enjoy the process!

    • @irwinpang5883
      @irwinpang5883 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Greene to be honest if you are not the subject, dronie can be done easily by manual.
      Making a smooth circle is the hard bit.
      Found myself wasting too much battery sorting out how some quick shots work.

    • @JeffGreeneChannel

    I’ve got this shot idea there is a tree in the middle of this pond I want to do a rocket of the top of the tree zooming up to reveal the pond question can I select the tree and rocket over it and how do I stop the drone from crashing if it does in to the water.

      Kevin Wynn sounds like a cool shot! You should be able to target the tree and do the rocket shot. After the shot completes the mavic will descend back to starting point. You can select the flight mode button at the highest point to stop rocket mode. Alternatively you could hit the pause button. Either way, obstacle avoidance should keep you out of the tree. Let me know how it turns out!

      Hey man thanks for the feedback. I hadn't noticed the music was so loud and voice audio was so low.
