      Oh sorry, you told me to calm down. I wasn't worked up like. It's just baffling innit. In my opinion aside from being well shot, it's a bad bad film, but this scene is the stinkiest part of a bag of shite.

      Movie wasn’t perfect but definitely wasn’t shit that’s just your opinion. It is what it is but shit movies don’t end up over 8.0 on IMDb and if you view a movie from a comic perspective your gonna be letdown everytime too many ppl don’t know the material to even give a shit about Talia she was a means to an end for the movie Bane was the hype.

    • @bobthegrinch
      @bobthegrinch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      @@seanjuleson2876 I did specifically state that it was my opinion and in no way claimed it to be objective fact. It's an opinion I stand by, and not as a disappointed comic fan. I loved his first two. I just genuinely am of the opinion The Dark Knight Rises is a shit film. It feels perfunctory and half arsed. Reaching for something to say but aside from the plane and football field set pieces, it's all a bit half baked. Bane was the hype, and I kind of liked him for a bit (I find his voice and dialogue comical throughout) but he turns out just to be a puppet. For me, and as I feel you need me to reiterate for you that it is just my opinion, it was a massively disappointing finale to the trilogy. Not Batman V Superman bad, but bad nonetheless.
      "movies don’t end up over 8.0 on IMDb" I don't put much stock in IMDB scores. Films get flooded with reviews opening weekend from people that are hyped to see films succeed/fail on audience scores. Sometimes their are campaigns to vote 10 or 1 depending on a films politics. I don't consider it a reliable metric. Regardless I don't need anyone to agree with me. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind here.

    Marion Cotillard has expressed her feelings about her death scene in several French interviews and the backclash around it. She basically admitted that her performance was very bad in this scene but expressed sadness around the fact that people focused a lot on this little "mistake" she made, overlooking all of her performances in the rest of her career, stating that one minor flip isn't that big of a deal and shouldn't erase all the rest from people's memory.

    • @tomasnichols8401
      @tomasnichols8401 ปีที่แล้ว

      She's not just 'monologuing', she's also conveying the fact that they're screwed. She rigged the fusion reactor to flood itself, so there's no way to stabilize the core. That's kinda something they need to be listening to... It's like I have to explain the whole movie to some of y'all.

    • @tomasnichols8401

      @@leecroft7311 You say that, but then again you're not even picking up on the point of the scene, which is that Talia tells them they can't stabilize the core (bomb) because she rigged the reactor. There are so many funny things about this scene.
    Talia's goofy ass middle school theater class "death" scene
    Batman, Catwoman, and Gordon staring at Talia like how i used to stare at my Hot Pockets cooking in the microwave when i was 12.
    Gordon suffering minor injuries in a crash that just killed a woman.
    The fact that they listen to Talia's ENTIRE monologue as the city is about to get blown to dust by an atom bomb.
    Bruce having zero reaction to Talia dying and going straight to hooking up the nuke to his bat-copter despite looking giga-invested in Talia's speech seconds prior.
    I love Nolan's Batman trilogy but this scene was so goofy compared to the tone that these movies normally have 😂

    There are some extraordinarily powerful moments in The Dark Knight Rises, but it does end up feeling like the sort of film Nolan put together because he was at a loose end and and had nothing else to do. The very fact he was happy with the way Miranda’s last scene was delivered just suggests his heart wasn’t in the movie.

      @@tomasnichols8401 you mean like Talias plan? No that's more like a few wrapped up into one. I guess the biggest one would be not detonating the bomb while they had Bruce imprisoned. Gotham destroyed and Batman broken...literally both of her goals accomplished right there. Dont get the wrong idea, i love the Nolan trilogy but all of them have some plot holes. Dark Knight is the only one with excusable plotholes cause Joker does tend to have amazing luck in the source material.

    • @tomasnichols8401
      @tomasnichols8401 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@darthmalagus I don't see how that's a "plot hole". Bane's whole speech to Bruce in that prison explains why they're not just gonna hit the button. They want Gotham to suffer - and Bruce to suffer - and that's not achievable without false hope, a lesson Bane learned in the pit, himself. The occupation of Gotham City is the same concept of the pit as extrapolated to a societal level. The point of the attack is not just about the nuke, it's about the effect of the faux revolution on the souls of those in Gotham and on the world at large. So with so much story/plot substantiation dedicated to explaining their motives on that, that's not a plot hole. Plot holes are unexplained. Bottom line, the LoS is not just there to blow Gotham up. If they didn't explain why they're not just gonna blow Gotham up, sure that'd be a plot hole, but they did. And what's the deal with the Joker, btw? TDK shows how corrupt Gotham is, and how deeply Maroni's influence runs; he's got people everywhere. Those people, that influence, becomes the Joker's tool in staying a step ahead of everyone. I wouldn't say anything is unexplained in what the Joker pulls off.

      Sure there is, he took less of a hit in the trailer than she did in the front of the truck. Force of impact comes down to stopping distance. The truck went off at a 45 degree angle and rotated in-air with the nose slamming down first, crushing the cabin, followed by the rear coming down after. The only cushion to the front was the bending of the frame. The deceleration of the trailer was not as instantaneous because there was an initial deceleration from the first hit, followed by the truck rotating about its center of mass and the trailer landing on the ground after. It's a hard hit for Jim Gordon, but, unlike Talia, nothing folds in on him, and his body had significantly more time to stop after the initial impact. Still sustained an arm injury, though.

How would a missile have hit the cabin and only killed the driver and not killed Talia? Your interpretation doesn't even make physical sense. Batman cut the road off by firing missiles at it to try and get them to turn, and Talia forced them to drive through the debris from the destroyed road, some of which struck the driver. Whether or not it killed him, Talia took over and continued driving the same heading. What you seem to be forgetting, among everything else, is that they were on a suicide run, so Batman was effectively attempting to SAVE their lives, not END their lives, along with saving everyone else in Gotham City from nuclear annihilation. He could've gunned them both down at any point and taken the bomb, but he didn't. He showed as much restraint as possible and never broke his rule, which, I'm sure you also conveniently misremember, was actually "I'm no executioner". He never had a rule in those movies against inadvertently or incidentally contributing to someone's death. That's not even the comic book no-kill rule, that's the Animated Series. Nolan didn't adapt BTAS. He set up rules as he interpreted them from the modern comics (which substantiate the character), and he adhered to them. But to equate any of that to Batfleck - who had no rules of engagement ever established in those movies - unnecessarily blowing up occupied vehicles by firing high caliber rounds directly on target and then driving over their smoldering remains is an entirely bad faith argument. You misrepresented the scene, whether or not you actually understand it. There's even a beat where Batman uses the machine gun to shoot down at the road and make the truck hang a left.

      Me personally I don’t think the big issue is of him killing it’s when you make that big change to Batman as a character and don’t even a knowledge it like Batman in bvs there is no reason for it other then Snyder thought that made him cool and edgy it’s like making a Batman movie and making him wear pink swimming trunks and literally not explain or expand on it at all that’s why people get upset when you change stuff so integral to the Batman character and don’t explain or even care that you changed something so meaningful to the character

I think because her head was tucked inward instead of maybe back into the chair, she could have made a more natural neck movement? There’s not much motion to be made besides a sideways jerk, if your face is tucked into your neck. She probably knew it was awkward from the start. Hardy performance as Bane just oozes camp and along with the other outright goofy shit is played straight with such self seriousness I wonder if others are watching the same movie.
    Try and defend that take of Talia suddenly falling dead or say its not meant to elicit laughter.. You're telling me Nolans whos arguably greatest tool is editing would use that take? If for whatever reason they didn't get coverage you can just cut around it, the dude walks around his sets quoting the macgruber movie he is on the joke and I guess you dark knight truthers are the punchline

    For those who are still confused about Marion Cotillard ‘s performance, there is a simple reason that somehow nobody catches up.
    She was PREGNANT
    Yes, Nolan actually dare to ask a pregnant woman to play in a blockbuster without thinking straight.
    There is even rumors applying that Nolan has constantly bullied and harassed Marion so she can play in the movie, she eventually gave up and put her health in danger for him.
    But at the same time, she also signed for an other movie, therefore couldn’t totally be free for the film which infuriated Nolan.
    So Nolan voluntarily keep this take as a payback because he thought he was somehow the victim.
    So yes, Nolan is the responsible and there are some clues that he is profoundly misogynist
