I’ve been seriously comparing the Badlands Apex 12k to the Warn Zeon 12s. Seeing this video has made much more confident in the Badlands. How has it held up over time? Thanks for sharing the video!
I knew the winch was going to pull one of them. Look like the truck was going to get pulled instead. Does it have a fail safe overheat. I’m not a winch guy, but I hear you should only pull for a few second at time, and double that time before you pull again.
There is a relay on the winch and yes you should let them rest after a good pull. However this truck is setup very well for the duty cycles the winch demands as it does have dual batteries and dual alternators pumping out 397 amps.
A complete installation video would be awesome. This is a great looking option, I see a lot of good press regarding the Badlands Apex 12K winch. Still doing my due diligence.
to be fair, you are only pulling the rolling resistance weight of the semi and not the 80k lbs. in comparison, ford's EV F-150 train car stunt once broken down from a mathematical engineer debunked it as a very clever stunt but the truck was only pulling a rolling resistance of somewhere in the neighbourhood of 5,000lbs from the 1 million plus lbs.
I am aware of that, this was just a one up to Fords test of their winch where they pulled a kenworth day cab tractor by itself and no trailer on flat ground.
It was hard to watch but impressive. I would have got out more line and used a snatch block to make a better pull ratio. Otherwise it’s just harder on the winch.
Just the semitruck weight around 35,000 pounds and Trailer empty 10,000 pounds so total are talking 45,000 pounds not bad for winch capacty is 12,000 increible!!!!!.
Brother. Hear me out. That was an awesome truck, winch, and demonstration. BUT, you literally were out of breath from walking a couple dozen feet. That's really not good, please focus on your health. You owe yourself.
Been waiting for someone to come up with a kit like this! Well done!

That’s a cool set-up.
Thank you!
Good for you! Been waiting for this.

@@TheCarDad The reason for observing duty cycle is to prevent the winch motor from overheating.

As soon as we can find a local truck to do an install video, we will!
Where are you located so we can help you find a local truck?
@@gunguysc Vegas
@@TheCarDadWould you be willing to do one remotely?
can you do another video of where you locate the top module of winch and how you ran the wires.
Yep, we can show you where we ran our wires. Stay tuned by subscribing, and we will get it up as soon as we can.
Love your content! (also a comment to enhance your TH-cam algorithm performance)
You gotta get the tazer with the winch brake all 4 wheels to lock up
Great video! I would have engaged the parking brake on the Ford though. The Ford was rocking back and forth. Not good for the tranny. 👍
Sure putting slot of pressure on that parking pin. No one ever uses their parking brake?
Pulling a truck in neutral on flat ground. A geo metro could do that.
I love it! Nice work.
will it work with the Badland ZXR 1200 winch?

Should checked the temp of the winchI wonder how hot it got
Not a bad idea! I'll check next time!
Do you think a stock 2.7L Bronco battery/alternator setup can handle such a load? Do you think it would it affect the winch's performance?
What winch plate did you use ? Any pics on the install?
Yes, check out the thread on www.fordtremor.com/threads/alternitave-to-the-ford-performance-winch-at-less-than-half-the-cost.3396/
12k winch pulling 80k? Very impressive.
80k is the gross combined mqx GVW. The empty weight of a tractor trailer is about 15k lbs, the trailer had a light load of about 8000lbs.
@@TheCarDad 23k still very impressive. Almost double the winch rating.

Great Job! Do you have the dual alternator setup in your diesel? In regards for the wench to operate properly?
Yes, my truck is equipped with thr 397amp alternators and dual batteries as Ford recommends for the winch.
OMG!!!!
I know...right?!

YES!!!!!
I love it!!!
What weight was in the trailer? Or the estimated weight of the tractor and trailer combined?
The trailer wasn't heavy, maybe had a load of 8000 lbs, plus the empty weight of the trailer. The trucks curb weight is about 10k.
If I wanted a Powerstroke, I'd just call your mom
Just know that if your Tremor is equipped with the adaptive cruise control, this kit will not work. Only the Ford Performance winch will.
Not necessarily true, you can use any after market adaptive cruise control relocation kit and this kit will work just fine.
