One of Joel's messages he talks about "Don't swim across an ocean to help someone who wouldn't jump over a puddle to help you" So I think we have to ask God where we draw the line between being kind and helpful to people, and letting people take advantage of our kindness and our helpfulness. There's a fine line between being good and too good. We must be kind and helpful to people to the best of our ability but, when we sense we're being used by people who don't care about us . People who only care about what we can do for them but aren't there for us. That's when we have to be respectful but slowly put some distance between us and them. It's hard because we want to please everyone all the time and people will take advantage of our kindness but, it's the people who are there for you when it's you who need something that are you're true friends I think. Kindness toward strangers, helping our neighbors, our friends makes us happy but it doesn't make us weak. People do mistake kindness for weakness and those are the people who will keep coming back for more until they drain you dry. We have to respectfully distance ourselves from them even if we hurt their feelings or they'll never quit.
