The fact that the audience still applauded for her means her success when she was young and beautiful wasn't just bc of her beauty but also her talent on singing. It's not always about looks. It's how you should love yourself and what you do in life. That's happiness :)
The ending has a dual meaning to me. On one hand, the audience could be clapping because it doesn't matter what an artist looks like (except apparently it does in Hollywood) it all comes down to the talent and the fond memories. But it could also mean that the audience doesn't care about the sufferings of performers, as long as they put on an entertaining show.
Am I the only one who really, really wants a videogame in this artstyle? It's so pretty! I love that art-deco/porcelain doll style, it's super gorgeous!
@@sl3epysle3py Of course if society wasn't so harsh, she wouldn't feel like beauty is her only good quality. Also she wouldn't be ashamed of her age or the fact that she looks old and wouldn't have done any of this. Truly what makes her beautiful is her heart and the talent that she shares with the world.
Jemeile Saducda It’s not always about fame that causes you to loose your mind. It’s mostly your own personality that is the problem. If you think beauty is more important to the point you go under the knife, you are very insecure of yourself. Fame doesn’t do anything, it is up to you how you deal with fame.
This has such a gorgeous and unique art style, quite liked how it was paced. I really loved the way this depicted one's spiral into insanity when it comes to many people's fear of aging, especially in women. It can be pressuring at times to look like your young self as you get older. Of course everyone ages, and not everyone's happy about that, but I feel like women are often seen as a target for businesses to sell off of their fears and insecurities of aging and looking older. I really liked that ending cause it kind of showed how celebrities are sometimes seen as a source of entertainment.
She wanted to be pretty for fame and to be enchanting again, she's made everything in China like a doll. So you don't have a doll face to be talented, that's what it shows in the last scene where the audience is clapping.
Damn. At least she was still able to preform!😥 She still did something in the end that she loved and HOPEFULLY, she'll still love herself for herself and not just for only parts of her.
She wanted to continue to become more popular because she was young and beautiful. But the ending proves that the audience still clap for her, which means that they applaud for her success in her role as singing. She had accomplished her role from love and respect than the looks of her young self.
The art style is gorgeous, and the way she had naturally aged was very lovely. But I hate narratives that punish women who want to maintain their youth and beauty when most stories focus on the beauty of their female character, as well as jokes about taking girls swimming on the first date while also saying it's lazy for women to not wear makeup.
This isn't punishing anyone. Its more so showing the mental effect of an addiction to the way you look. It's almost allowing people without low self-esteem to understand how those who do actually feel.
This shit happens in real life. People who dont feel good about themselves, get plastic surgery and come out looking worse for the wear. It isnt punishment. Its a very real risk of plastic surgery most women don't stop to even think about. So saying this person is punishing the main character for wanting to be young again says more about you then it does them.
Elle Langley but your comment makes you sound as if you’re slandering people who choose to get plastic surgery. it’s not that people don’t know the risks, they disregard them - which is okay, it’s their choice and nobody can stop them.
This is such a good storyline! To me the glass represents how we can be molded by our parents and our environment. Glass is hard just like our thick skin but it can still be completely shattered just like our self concept or confidence.

Exactly. I think the film captures society's obsession with staying young and vital. Our society treats the old, especially women, as invisible, useless, and no longer relevant. Maybe people would be happier if we modeled other societies that revere and honor older people. I read an article written by a woman who included a photoshoot of her grandmother, and this lady was elegant and beautiful, and didn't do anything to hide her age. She just looked proud to be who she was, did what she could to preserve her health, and had a happy light in her eyes. And THAT made her beautiful.
I love how the audience saw her as an old woman and she saw herself as a young woman. The audience was least interested in her face, because all they saw was her very talent that she maintained even in her old age.
