"The Legend of Hao Lan" based on the late Warring States period, revolves around the struggle between the Qin and Zhao states. The Zhao state Censor's daughter Li Haolan (Wu Jinyan acted) was forced to be a slave because of family struggle , the businessman Lv Buwei (Nie Yuan acted) bought him. Later with the Qin proton Ying Yiren(Mao Zijun acted) produced chemistry after twists and turns.

I don't think people in the comments are actually understanding what's happening here. It is true that Zheng'er was a terribly spoilt child that grew up into a sociopathic monarch and that is partly Haolan's fault, however people are ignoring the eunuch by his side who was sent by Princess Ya to feed his worst impulses. Considering that he would have probably spent more time with the eunuch than with his mum, the eunuch would have an even greater impact on his behaviour.
The reason Zheng'er calls Haolan meddlesome at the end is because he realised that the plan that he thought he and his general came up with to remove his political opponents was actually masterminded by Haolan. She was the one who raised up Lao Ai so he could go against the king and Lu Buwei (whose influence was probably stronger than Zheng'er to be honest). Haolan was okay with having a sad ending and damaged reputation if it meant her son could rule unchallenged. It means that the power Zheng'er now possessess wasn't due to his innate wisdom or ability but rather because his mother cleared the way for him.

I find it hilarious how Zheng'er is finding faults in his own mother, and only proves what Haolan was saying before: mothers and women are used as figures of faults and reason for failure when men in power have a moment of weakness. Lu Buwei is credited for Zheng'er's achievements, yet Haolan is blamed for all his failures. Lu Buwei is also at fault tho, he was equally as blunt, if not more so, than Haolan. We saw how that had an effect on Zheng'er with Li Ge, the fallout was Lu Buwei's fault, yet Haolan is blamed for Zheng'er's moment of weakness and tenderness for Li Ge when the plot was revealed.
Also I know it's a different time, I've watched this drama from beginning to end, but that doesn't change that I still think BOTH are equally at fault, not just Haolan.

I also think that basically everyone around Zheng'er failed him. I think Huayang and LBW were more at fault for Zheng'er than Haolan.
He was fine when he was with her. He was a spitfire but he wasn't psychotic. Zichu also played into their stupidity.
The only thing Haolan really contributed negatively was stirring up the drama between him and his half brother. The jealousy between the two wives really bred a superiority/inferiority complex. She had every right to be upset but it should've been between the two women and Zichu, not the whole palace.
Every time LBW instigated with Zheng'er, it was almost always in tandem with Huayang. Those two may never have been officially a couple but they sure did team up against Haolan and Zheng'er in the end.
Honestly I think Zheng'er would've been more accepting of his mom's stance if she had given him the trust that they had when he was growing up. He mourned the loss of that closeness for so long and they never really got a chance to reconcile.
Haolan did to him what Zichu did to her in that regard.

in the end, Hao lan gave everything to her son. she schemed and got rid of every obstacle in the court and rid of the prime ministers influence, truly allowing her son to reign and set the stage for him to conquer the rest of china. quite an impressive ending to the drama
What an ungratefull man.I see he is very narrow- minded and couldn't decipher his own mother who for the whole life has protected him with all she has. Even she was betrayed by the men she loved time and again she endured everything for him. And what did she get ? Hatred. Resentment.

No the general sent her and the children out of state and her son brought her back however she didn’t speak to him or forgive him until her death, he then buried her with zichu

It's haolan fault she don't teach her child properly
In matter of fact, Zheng´er was pretty resentful with his mother for what happend to his wedding day; Haolan showed a pretty indifferent to him was when his fiance was killed by the trickery of the prime minister and forced him to get married to other woman while he was mourning. So yeah, Haolan has her share of fault for what happen.

She created this monster! She was completely fine as long as his horrible behavior was aimed at other people but then she had that surprise pikachu face when she could no longer control him . I think she raised a sociopath
