I grabbed the wrong blue when I started but it was too late after filming. This was my opaque blue. Meant to grab my prussian blue from Vallejo. Technique still works though =]
Anything that goes on with any transparency would likely work. Metallics benefit from different shades though. For example gold style metallics go well with brown paints as the shadow area.

I feel you could have done the blue thinner or more translucent to get a stronger effect.

why use the extra opaque blue? wouldn't a more transparent blue so that you could preserve more of the gradient underneath?
Grabbed the wrong bottle at the time and left the prussian blue at home. Rolled with it as it was a film session I didn't want to go to waste.
