Garstka is like the evolution of the modern metal drummer.
In my opinion Matt is the drummer who has most revolutionized progressive metal, one of the best drummers today.
@@weslleymarques2441 Thomas Haake, Dan Foord. Both of these guys revolutionized metal too, way before Gartska, though I think Matt has added a hell of a lot to the conversation.
Matt is good, I agree he's done some pretty tech stuff... but he's no Elliot Hoffman.
@@DARRENC910 Garstka blows that guy completely away tbh; Matt can play in almost every genre because he has gone through music school and uses all those different influences in his playing. Elliot Hoffman definitely knows his chops but Matt is on another level.
Should have won that metal drummer of the year
The choreographer for this video is God tier at his job. Amazing!
And the performers as well they must have put a lot of effort in practice to get this right.
Her, I think.
Okay kids, this is now the only acceptable way of dancing at a prog metal show. 🕺

WORTH IT!!!
If the crowd doesn't perform this exact dance every time this track is played live I will be slightly disappointed.
LOL
Only slightly 👌

I bought tickets to see them almost 2 years ago and the canceled the tour. I guess it doesn't matter, I cant go to the show anyway they are checking for vaccines.
Flashmob time😜
That "double kick stutter" drum transition at 2:34 is so sick. Holding off on the cymbal work until that fat snare is smacked. Beautifully done Matty boy 👌
Perfect little ditty. The cymbal hits so hard because of it.
I just wish they did this a littttle more often in their song. They toy with us plenty but I'd listen to this 3x more if they provided just 2 or 3 more hits of relief in their songs.
Word is bond, McDrums!

Dragons As Leaders
Animal force
@@lukaszregucki4039 also known as the paw patrol
Props to Herman Li & Dragonforce for being one of the few "traditional" (as in, non-djent/non-modern prog) metal bands that embrace and support djent as a legitimate metal genre and continuation of heavy metal.
@@hkleider not sure if continuation. Rather a sidestep and fork on its own and onwards.
If I am not mistaken, the word "Monomyth" was coined/crafted by James Joyce in Finnegans Wake (perhaps the most impenetrably esoteric book known to man) and was repurposed by mythology scholar Joseph Campbell to talk about the journey of departure and return undertaken by heroes throughout world mythology:
"The standard path of the mythological adventure of the hero is a
magnification of the formula represented in the rites of passage: separation-initiation-return: which might be named the nuclear unit of the monomyth" (from The Hero With a Thousand Faces)
Is it any coincidence that this catchy little tune has elements from all previous AAL releases? From the manic thumping of Madness, to the melodious epicness of Joy, to the dreamy and unnerving electronic textures of Weightless and, of course, the absurdly mindblowing shredding of the eponymous 1st album? It's all there: snippets from the cycle of the AAL discography, mixed together into a whole new brew of sonic deliciousness...
Looking forward to the album!!!!
Hmm interesting. Are these books you've yourself read or read about?
@@Waltzhybrid92 well I have a feeling very few people have actually "read" FInnegans Wake haha, though I have dabbled in reading a few passages here and there, just outa curiosity (check out the first few pages and you'll see what I mean lol)
The Campbell book is highly recommended, if you're into comparative mythology and that kinda thing
Dude I have no idea what the fuck your just said but I think you’re right

It was always a mystery how one should dance to this kind of music. A solution has been discovered!
We all joke about how, "People at the AAL live shows better be dancing like this." but deep down inside. We know, there's that one group that has studied the entire choreography of this music video and is going to pull it out when they play this song live.

Matt is constantly going through software updates like a computer does. This guy never stops moving on that kit! Love the new song!
Yeah he’s still pushing himself. Inspirational af
@@karmakramer100, don’t forget Tosin and Javier though. The guitar work on this song is several leagues above their previous work. And that is REALLY saying something.
Matt and Damom Che forever changed the way I think about drums. More so Matt, since he was the first technical drummer I heard, but Damon Che, (with the help of his oh ther bandmates of course), forever changed the face of mathrock. They're the drummers I judge other drummers with remotely similar styles by.

The last dance is freaking amazing! I admire how the dance reflects the song's technicality and the mechanics of this genre of music.
